Replace if excessively damaged or dirty.

- Disconnect the ground cable from battery. (Scheme 32): Disconnecting Battery Ground Cable
- Loosen the clamps (A) which connect the air cleaner case and the intake duct.
- Remove the clips (B) from air cleaner case.
- Disconnect the connector (C) from mass air flow and intake air temperature sensor. (Scheme 33): Identifying Mass Air Flow And Intake Air Temperature Sensor Connector
- Remove the intake duct and upper cover from air cleaner case.
- Remove the air cleaner element.
- Remove the bolts which install air cleaner case to vehicle body. (Scheme 34): Locating Air Cleaner Case Bolts
- Remove the air cleaner case.
Check for cracks or loose connection.
Scheme 35
- Loosen the clamp (A) which connects air intake chamber to throttle body.
- Loosen the clamp (B) which connects the duct to air intake chamber.
- Remove the bolt (C) which secures air intake chamber to the stay.
- Disconnect the connector (D). (Scheme 35): Identifying Air Intake Chamber Clamp, Duct Clamp And Connector
- Disconnect the blow-by hoses, and then remove air intake chamber.
- Check for cracks or loose connection.
- Inspect that no foreign objects are mixed in the air intake chamber.

- Remove the bolts which install the air intake duct on the front side of body.
- Remove the air intake duct. (Scheme 36): Locating Air Intake Duct Bolt
- Check for cracks or loose connection.
- Inspect that no foreign objects in the air intake duct.

- Set the vehicle on a lift.
- Remove the air intake duct.
- Remove the air cleaner lower case. REMOVAL AIR CLEANER CASE. >
- Remove the resonator chamber attaching bolts on the right side of the engine room. (Scheme 37): Locating Resonator Chamber Attaching Bolt
- Remove the front wheel RH, and lift the vehicle.
- Remove the front mudguard RH.
- Remove the resonator chamber from the inside front fender. (Scheme 38): Locating Resonator Chamber Attaching Bolt
Check for cracks or loose connection. Check that no foreign objects are mixed in the resonator.
