Body, Cab Control Systems 1 illustration ~3000 words

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Vehicle exterior lighting is operated with main light switch and left toggle switch in combination with DICE module. Exterior light functions that are controlled by DICE include headlights, front fog lights, rear fog lights, direction indicators, and hazard flashers.

INTERIOR LIGHTING SYSTEM

DICE system controls interior lighting automatically or manually depending on position of light switch. Interior light functions that are controlled by DICE include dome lights, reading lights, vanity mirror lights, glove box light, and luggage compartment light.

BUTTON ILLUMINATION & LIGHTING FOR CONTROLS

DICE supplies power to button illumination and lighting for controls. To adjust brightness, DICE Pulse Width Modulates (PWM) power supply to bulbs. If night panel function is selected on Saab Information Display (SID), bulbs for button illumination and controls lighting will illuminated with reduced brightness.

ACOUSTIC WARNING

An acoustic warning (a chime) will sound if driver's door is opened with key in ignition switch or if parking lights are on and driver's door is opened while key is not in ignition.

HEATED REAR WINDOW & DOOR MIRRORS

Heating of rear window and door mirrors is activated manually or automatically via automatic climate control panel or manual climate control panel.

RADIATOR FAN

Using input from coolant temperature, A/C pressure, exterior temperature, and vehicle speed, DICE controls on/off operation of single-speed radiator fan or fan speed on dual-speed radiator fan.

AIR CONDITIONING

DICE uses coolant temperature, A/C system pressure, evaporator temperature, exterior temperature, vehicle speed, and engine running time to determine whether A/C compressor should operate. If DICE allows A/C compressor to operate, it sends a signal that is used by engine management system to activate compressor clutch relay.

VENTILATION FAN DOES NOT START UNTIL 20 SECONDS AFTER ENGINE START

  1. Check user programming in Automatic Climate Control (ACC) system to check if fan delay is programmed. Programming is carried out by simultaneously pressing ECON and fan blower motor speed up buttons. Cancelling user programming is done by simultaneously pressing floor mode and heated rear window/door mirrors button. In both instances, the selection is acknowledged by flashing of the background lighting. If fan delay is not programmed, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using Tech 1 scan tool, contact DICE system. Read IGNITION +54 value. If value is ON, go to next step. If value is not ON, repair open circuit in Brown/Gray wire between DICE module terminal No. 31 and splice. After repair, go to step 4 .
  3. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool, read IGNITION +54 value. If value is OFF, system is okay. Go to next step. If value is not OFF, repair short circuit to voltage in Brown/Gray wire between DICE connector terminal No. 31 and splice. After repair, go to next step.
  4. Clear DTCs. Use scan tool to perform a function check. If DTC does not reoccur, system is okay. If DTC reoccurs, replace DICE module.
