Removing - refitting: subframe Peugeot 607 I

Special tools

[1] ball-joint extractor (-).0903-AF

[2] pivot ball-joint uncoupling lever (-).0622

[3] positioning calipers (-).C0623

Removing

Lock the steering column in the low outlet position

Open: the fuse box flap (1)

Remove the bolts (2)

Remove the cover under the instrument panel (3)

Remove bolts (4)

Detach the steering universal joint by moving aside the safety clip (5)

Remove the fixing screws (6)

Move aside the accelerator pedal and its bracket

Remove the bolts (7)

Remove the seal (8)

Remove the bolts (9)

Remove the steering column shaft, including the lower universal joint (10)

Lift and support the vehicle with front wheels suspended

Remove

• The front wheels
• The mud shields
• The screen under the drive train
• The screens under the fan unit

Uncouple the height sensor rod (11) at (A) (according to equipment)

Move aside the exhaust bracket plate (12)

Drain the power steering circuit

Unclamp the power steering pipe (12a) from the sub-frame

Hook the steering housing to the bulkhead

Remove

• The stabiliser bar rod nuts (13)
• The securing rods (14) for the sub-frame tie bars
• Wishbone ball joint nut (15)
• The torque reaction link bolt (16)
• The steering housing nuts (17)

Move aside the pivot ball joints using tools [1 - 2]

Take the weight of the sub-frame using a jack

Remove

• The mounting bolts (18) on the sub-frame
• The mounting bolts (19) on the sub-frame

Unscrew: the 2 mounting bolts (21) on the sub-frame

Remove: the sub-frame

Refitting

Always replace: the Nylstop nuts

Centralise the sub-frame using tools [3]

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal

Tightening torques
