Steering Wheel - Steering Column 2 illustrations ~163 words

The steering column electronics module comprises the following sub-systems:

  • Steering wheel remote control
  • Transponder antenna
  • Ignition lock
  • Turn signal switch
  • High/low beam light lever switch
  • Controls for cruise control
  • Info display control buttons
  • Screen wiper controls
  • Hall sensor / steering angle sensor (for ABS/ESP)
  • Signal switch
  1. 1. Wash/wipe system switch, for Australia: turn signal switch
  2. 2. Ignition lock
  3. 3. Driver's airbag connection
  4. 4. Turn signal switch, for Australia: wash/wipe system switch

There are six different versions of steering wheel electronics module, which differ in terms of equipment and transmission frequency (315 MHz and 433 MHz).

All the steering column electronics module components, except the transponder key are directly connected to the steering column electronics module and do not therefore require any additional wiring.

The assembly consists of the following components:

  1. 1. Mounting
  2. 2. Ignition starter switch
  3. 3. Printed circuit board
  4. 4. Switch modules (for turn signal switch and wash/wipe system switch)
  5. 5. Housing
  6. 6. Ribbon cable
