Trouble-shooting: Nominal Value: Cause of Trouble:
Before trouble-shooting is started the ignition basic adjustment must be checked.
For this mode F5 must be selected.
Ignition basic adjustment:
· Engine idling at operating temperature (oil temperature > 80 °C/176 °)
· Engine speed must be between 750 and 1000 1/min
· Remove basic adjustment coding plug (necessary only when adjusting without TECH 1)
· The dwell angle must be 10 °CA BTDC (comparison of the values of the Opel Tester with TDC sensor with TECH 1 display) or the mark on the pulley and the pin on the oil pump housing (with stroboscope) must align.
If necessary the basic adjustment can be corrected by turning the ignition distributor.
· Install basic adjustment coding plug again
Connect stroboscope or Values must be almost · Lead interruption from control unit

· Resistance of ignition leads
Important: · Resistance of primary and secondary side
At an engine speed < 750 1/min the DWELL ANGLE of ignition coil
is not updated. · Checking of Hall sensor (see Test Step 04)
TECH 1 indicates this with the following display: · Oil temperature sensor defective, therefore
operation in wrong block learn possible
(see Test Step 02)
