Trouble-shooting: Nominal Value: Cause of Trouble:

This Test Step is essentially a checking value to understand the system better but can also be consulted to evaluate ignition problems.

The dwell angle alteration is electronically controlled and can therefore no longer be influenced manually.

Important!

Before trouble-shooting:

· Correct adjustment of idling speed 16 SV MT : 900 to 950 1/min

16 SV AT : 800 to 850 1/min

· Battery voltage must be > 13.5 V with

engine running

With an engine speed < 750 1/min the DWELL ANGLE is not updated.

TECH 1 indicates this with the following display:

DWELL ANGLEThe ignition voltage is switched on at 65°CA BTDC and switched off at
BYPASS MODE5°CA BTDC (ignition).
SPARK ADVANCEThis means:
5 °CA BTDCConstant dwell angle at speeds < 750 1/min

Trouble-shooting: Nominal Value: Cause of Trouble:

· Connection of conventional Checking of:

dwell angle measuring instrument - Primary and secondary side of the

ignition coil

- Ignition leads

- Sparking plugs

· Compare value of dwell angle measuring

instrument with TECH 1 display - Control unit defective
