Idle speed/CO coding disconnected

Idle speed/CO coding connected

1-pin plug connection in engine compartment, on the right in direction of travel, immediately beside the passageway for wiring harness to passenger compartment

Note: TECH 1 checks the switch condition of the idle CO coding plug connection. This plug is only connected for CO adjustment, to increase the CO value to a measurable range.

Observe idle CO adjustment regulations in the Service Instructions.

Preconditions:

- Engine at idle speed

- Connect TECH 1 and CO tester

- Engine in good working order

- Oil temperature approx. 80 °C/176 °F

- Electrical consumers switched off

- Hose for crankcase ventilation removed

TECH 1 in mode F6 or coding plug connected. Adjust to 1.5 ± 0.5 VoI.- % CO at mix regulation bolt. Press "EXIT" key, or disconnect plug.

CO value sinks to 0.2 - 0.3 Vol.- % CO.

Notes on Trouble-shooting:

· Ignition ON

Disconnect coding plug, read off from TECH 1

Reconnect coding plug

INACTIVE 5V

· Short circuit to ground in lead from control unit (Ter.10) to coding plug

· Lead interruption from control unit (Ter.10) to coding plug or plug (ground) to ground

· Loose contact in coding plug or control unit plug
