Attaching the Engine to the Engine Assembly Stand (KM�412)
Remove engine - see operation "Engine, Remove and Install".
Detach the starter heat shield from the starter.
Carefully pull the left�hand axle shaft from the transmission using KM�503�A or KM�460�2�B and KM�937 - place a collecting basin underneath. Close off the opening in the transmission with blanking plugs.
Detach the intermediate shaft bracket (1) from the cylinder block.
Pull the right�hand axle shaft with intermediate shaft and its bracket from the transmission - place a collecting basin underneath. Close off the opening in the transmission with blanking plugs.
Hook the engine into the jib crane.
Mark rotational direction of ribbed V�belt. Tension ribbed V�belt tensioner by turning cast hex (1) in direction of arrow (anti�clockwise), and remove ribbed V�belt.
Separate the wiring harness plug (5) and detach the air conditioning compressor (6) from the main bracket for ancillary components.
Detach the coolant hose from the thermostat housing (2), heat exchanger (4) and the coolant pipe (3). Remove the coolant hose.
Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the oil temperature sensor.
Detach the heat exchanger coolant hose (1) from the coolant filler neck.
Detach the oil filter housing (2) with heat exchanger from the cylinder block.
Detach the oil dipstick guide tube (3) from the right�hand engine damping block bracket (engine side).
Detach the right�hand engine damping block bracket (engine side) (4) from the cylinder block.
Remove the oil dipstick guide tube.
Detach the power steering pump high�pressure pipe (6) and return pipe (5) from the power steering pump.
Detach the fuel pipes bracket (4) from the left�hand engine damping block bracket (transmission side).
Detach the coolant pipe (3) from the left�hand engine damping block bracket (transmission side) and transmission. Remove the coolant pipe.
Detach the wiring harness plug (2) and fuel pipe from the fuel filter.
Remove the left�hand engine damping block bracket (transmission side) (1).
Attach the adapters KM�412�16 (2) and KM�412�8�1 (1) to the cylinder block.
Detach the right�hand engine damping block (engine side) from the front axle body. Remove the left�hand engine damping block (transmission side) from the transmission.
Attach the engine with adapters KM�412�16 and KM�412�8�1 to engine assembly stand KM�412 (3).
Unhook the engine from the workshop crane.
