Note. On the front axle, the wheel sensor pulse generating wheels can only be replaced complete with the front wheel hub. Replace front wheel hub – see operation "Wheel Bearing / Wheel Hub, Replace" in group "E". Replacement of the wheel sensor pulse generating wheels on the rear axle is described below.
Remove
Remove drive shaft – see operation "Drive Shaft, Remove and Install or Replace" in group "F". Clamp drive shaft in vice with protective jaws. Drive off the wheel sensor pulse pickup from the transmission-side drive shaft joint using a suitable drift.
Install
Position the wheel sensor pulse pickup on the transmission-side drive shaft joint. Using a suitable drift, drive the pulse pickup with blows distributed around the circumference until a gap (I) of 8 mm from the drive shaft joint is achieved.
Install drive shaft – see operation "Drive Shaft, Remove and Install or Replace" in group "F".
