Coolant Temperature Switch
In vehicles with air conditioning, two coolant temperature switches are installed.
S 128 is a dual-function switch.
Stage 1 actuates relays K 52 and K 67 at a coolant temperature of 105 °C/221 °F, which switches the radiator fan and auxiliary fan in parallel. Radiator fan and auxiliary fan operate at full output.
If the coolant temperature sinks below 100 °C/212 °F, the contact opens relays K 52 and K 67 again.
Stage 2 interrupts the ground connection to the compressor magnetic clutch at a coolant temperature of 120 °C/248 °F.
If the coolant temperature sinks below 115 °C/139 °F again, switch S 128 closes.
S 29 actuates relay K 51 at a coolant temperature of 100 °C/112 °F.
This bridges relay K 26 and switches the radiator fan and auxiliary fan in series with the air conditioning switched off.
The radiator fan and auxiliary fan operate at decreased speeds, due to the voltage split.
If the coolant temperature sinks below 95 °C/139 °F, the switch opens.
