Battery Change Agila-A
- Lever off latch between key head and key bit with a small screwdriver. Remove the key fob from the key web.
- Open the key fob by carefully turning the screwdriver.
- Fold open the key fob.
- Lever out the battery using the screwdriver.
Insert new battery; ensure correct polarity.
Note. The battery must be changed within 3 minutes else the radio remote control must be resynchronised. Place key in ignition, the transmitter in the key is synchronised by repeated activation of the radio remote control.
Re-assemble the two halves of the key head. Slide in key head until it engages in key bit.
Battery Change Agila-B
Removal
- 1. Unscrew screw (1), remove key cover.
- 2. Remove radio remote control (2).
Installation
- 1. Place screwdriver on radio remote control catch (2) and open with a slight twisting movement.
- 2. Replace new battery (3) (lithium disc type CR 1620 or equivalent), noting polarity.
- 3. Close radio remote control and fit into key handle.
- 4. Close key cover, screw in screw.
- 5. Perform function check, whether door locks can be opened with the radio remote control.
For design with fixed key shank, after replacing the battery the radio remote control must be resynchronised: place key in ignition, the transmitter in the radio remote control is synchronised after repeated activation of the radio remote control.
Corsa-C / Combo, Tigra-B and Meriva Battery Change
- Lever off latch between key head and key bit with a small screwdriver. Remove the key fob from the key web.
- Open the key fob by carefully turning the screwdriver.
- Fold open the key fob.
- Lever out the battery using the screwdriver.
Insert new battery; ensure correct polarity.
Re-assemble the two halves of the key head. Slide in key head until it engages in key bit.
Astra-G Battery Replacement
- Lever off latch between key head and key bit with a small screwdriver. Remove the key fob from the key web.
- Lever open the two halves of the key handle with a small screw driver and hinge open. The sensitive internal works must not be damaged. Insert battery, paying attention to polarity.
Re-assemble the two halves of the key head. Slide in key head until it engages in key bit.
Remote Control, Corsa-D, Astra-H and Zafira-B
Available for the Corsa-D, Astra-H and Zafira-B is a universal remote control with a range of approx. 3 metres. This universal remote control has the following functions:
- Folding key bit
- Activation of the central locking
- Enable/disable the mechanical anti-theft device
- Enable/disable the anti-theft warning system
- Operation of electric windows
Folding Key Bit
One constituent part of the key of the Corsa-D, Astra-H and Zafira-B is the folding key bit. To open up/close the key, the button (1) must be pressed each time to unlock it. When closing it, ensure that the key bit engages audibly.
Battery Change - Corsa-D, Astra-H and Zafira-B
As soon as the range of the radio remote control decreases, the battery (2) of the radio remote control must be replaced.
To do this the cover (1) of the key handle must be opened.
Insert battery; ensure correct polarity.
For design with fixed key shank, after replacing the battery the radio remote control must be resynchronised: place key in ignition, the transmitter in the radio remote control is synchronised after repeated activation of the radio remote control.
Battery Change Meriva-B, Astra-J, Insignia
- Remove covering cap (1)
- Remove battery (2)
- Insert new battery; ensure correct polarity
- Pull open covering cap
Battery Replacement, Astra-H and Zafira-B with Open & Start
- Pull off the spare key cover.
- Pull off the battery cover (3) by pressing down on the catch.
- Remove the battery (2).
- Insert the new battery, moving it past the retaining lug (1). Note the polarity.
- Refit both covers.
Radio-Remote Control Key, Vectra-C, Signum
The vehicle is equipped with a radio remote control key with transponder for the immobiliser system as standard. In addition to the functions that were previously available, the new key has a button for unlocking the luggage compartment lid (2).
Depending on the vehicle configuration, keys with memory functions are available for automatically moving the electric driver's seat to the position programmed in for the driver, for example.

Note. If the luggage compartment lid is separately unlocked using the button (2) or the door unlocking controls when the vehicle is locked, the number plate lamp comes on. If the luggage compartment lid is not locked again using the button (2), the automatic luggage compartment locking mechanism activates after approx. 20 minutes. The number plate lamp then goes off.
Vectra-C and Signum Battery Change
- Lever off latch between key head and key bit with a small screwdriver. Remove the key fob from the key web.
- Lever open the two halves of the key handle with a small screw driver and hinge open. The sensitive internal works must not be damaged. Insert battery, paying attention to polarity.
Re-assemble the two halves of the key head. Slide in key head until it engages in key bit.

Lever open the key fob with a small screwdriver.
Replace the batteries.
Ensure correct installation position and polarity.
Press the two halves of the key fob together.
