Note. Only replace springs in pairs. Only replace shock absorbers in pairs. When replacing springs or shock absorber, use parts from "Aftersales" which correspond to the vehicle version and equipment level.
Remove
- 1. Remove 2x wiper arm (1) from vehicle • Remove 2x cap (2), 2x nut (3)
- 2. Open bonnet
- 3. Remove cowl grille panel (4) from vehicle • Remove 5x clip, then release 14x clip, 3x locator
- 4. For drivers side, remove windshield wiper motor (6) from vehicle • Disconnect harness connector • Remove 3x bolt (5)
- 5. Raise vehicle to suitable working height
- 6. Remove front road wheel • Remove 4x bolt
Important. When removing the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle, do not pull the wire as there is a risk of damage to the sensor.
- 7. Release front wheel speed sensor from front strut assembly • Release rubber grommet (1) from bracket
- 8. Release brake hose from support bracket • Remove bolt (2)
- 9. Remove stabiliser link rod (1) from strut • Remove nut (2) – Use allen key in ball joint end to prevent turning
- 10. Remove knuckle assembly from strut assembly • Remove 2x bolt (4), 2x nut (3)
- 11. Lower vehicle
- 12. Remove strut assembly from vehicle • Remove nut (2) – Use a suitable tool to prevent ball joint end turning
- 13. Transfer strut assembly to work bench
- 14. Install spring compressor MKM-6068 to soft jawed vice
- 15. Remove strut assembly from coil spring • Install strut assembly to spring compressor MKM-6068 together with MKM-6068-10 , then compress coil spring as required • Remove nut (1) – Use allen key in strut assembly end to prevent turning • Remove coil spring damping ring, then withdraw spring strut from coil spring and spring compressor MKM-6068 together with MKM-6068-10
- 16. Remove protective bellow (5) and rubber bump stop from strut assembly • Slide off
Install
- 17. Install rubber bump stop and protective bellow (5) to new strut assembly • Slide on
- 18. Install strut assembly to coil spring and spring compressor MKM-6068 together with MKM-6068-10 • Apply suitable rubber lubricant to coil spring damping ring • Install coil spring damping ring • Install new nut (1) 42 Nm – Use allen key in strut assembly end to prevent turning • Decompress coil spring gradually, then remove shock absorber from spring compressor MKM-6068 together with MKM-6068-10
- 19. Remove spring compressor MKM-6068 from soft jawed vice
- 20. Transfer strut assembly to vehicle
- 21. Secure strut assembly to vehicle • Install new nut (2) 50 Nm – Use a suitable tool to prevent ball joint end turning
- 22. Raise vehicle to suitable working height
- 23. Secure strut assembly to steering knuckle • Install 2x bolt (4), 2x nut (3) 90 Nm
- 24. Install stabiliser link rod (1) to strut assembly • Install new nut (2) 50 Nm – Use allen key in ball joint end to prevent turning
- 25. Secure brake hose to support bracket • Install bolt (2) 25 Nm
- 26. Secure front wheel speed sensor to front strut assembly • Push in rubber grommet (1) to support bracket
- 27. Install front wheel • Install 4x bolt 85 Nm
- 28. Install windshield wiper motor (6) to vehicle • Install 3x bolt (5) 8 Nm in sequence shown • Connect harness connector
- 29. Install cowl panel grille (4) to vehicle • Secure 3x locator, 14x clip, then install 5x clip
- 30. Install 2x wiper arm (1) to vehicle • Adjust and align wiper arm • Install 2x nut (3) 18 Nm • Install 2x cap (2)
