Module Controlled Functions

The multifunction modules consist of the following

  1. smart junction box (SJB)
  2. driver seat module (DSM)

Driver Seat Module (DSM)

Refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Freestar) or SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Monterey) for schematic and connector information.

Possible Causes

  1. circuit 1567 (RD/LB) open or short to ground
  2. circuit 566 (DG) open or short to ground
  3. circuit 1203 (BK/LB) open
  4. circuit 1205 (BK) open
  5. DSM

  1. A1 CHECK GROUND CIRCUITS 1205 (BK) AND 1203 (BK/LB) FOR AN OPEN Key in OFF position. Disconnect: DSM C341c. Disconnect: DSM C341a. Measure the resistance between the DSM C341a-2, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground. Measure the resistance between the DSM C341c-6, circuit 1203 (BK/LB), harness side and ground. Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to A2 . No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUITS 1567 (RD/LB) AND 566 (DG) FOR VOLTAGE Key in ON position. Measure the voltage between the DSM C341c-1, circuit 1567 (RD/LB), harness side and ground. Measure the voltage between the DSM C341a-1, circuit 566 (DG), harness side and ground. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? Yes : GO to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-234508) to continue communication diagnosis. No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

Smart Junction Box (SJB)

Refer to SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Freestar) or SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS (Monterey) for schematic and connector information.

  1. circuit 1052 (TN/BK) open or short to ground
  2. circuit 1523 (DG) open or short to ground
  3. circuit 1524 (DB) open or short to ground
  4. circuit 1205 (BK) open
  5. SJB

  1. B1 CHECK THE SJB C2280a GROUND CIRCUITS Disconnect: SJB C2280a. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280a-1, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to B2 . No : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  2. B2 CHECK THE SJB C2280h GROUND CIRCUITS Disconnect: SJB C2280h. Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280h-8, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground; and between the SJB C2280h-22, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side and ground. Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes : GO to B3 . No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. B3 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE SJB Key in ON position. Disconnect: SJB C2280h. Measure the voltage between the SJB C2280h-11, circuit 1523 (DG), harness side and ground; and between the SJB C2280h-31, circuit 1524 (DB), harness side and ground; and between the SJB C2280h-32, circuit 1052 (TN/BK), harness side and ground. Are the voltages greater than 10 volts? Yes : REFER to «MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK»(ref-234508) to continue communication diagnosis. No : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
