DRAINING & REFILLING
Note. If an internal problem is suspected, drain the fluid through a paper filter. A small amount of metal or friction particles may be found from normal wear. However, if excessive metal and friction particles are present, internal service will be required. See CD4E DIAGNOSIS article.
OIL COOLER FLUSHING
| CAUTION | If transaxle fluid is very dirty or it contains metallic particles, install NEW oil cooler tubes and auxiliary oil cooler. |
Note. Test the cleaner to make sure that a vigorous fluid flow is present before proceeding. Install a new system filter if flow is weak or contaminated.
Note. Contaminates MUST be removed from oil cooler before transaxle is put back into service. Replace oil cooler supply tubes if leaking.
- Connect the cleaner pressure and return lines appropriately. Connect the pressure line to the fluid cooler inlet tube. Connect the return line to the fluid cooler outlet tube. Place the outlet end of the return line in the solvent tank reservoir.
- Switch the solvent pumps on. Allow the solvent to circulate a minimum of 5 minutes. Switch the solvent pump off. Disconnect the cleaner pressure line at the fluid cooler tube.
- Using compressed air, blow through the fluid cooler inlet tube until all solvent is removed. Remove the rubber hoses from the fluid cooler tubes.
- Lower the vehicle. Fill the transaxle with appropriate fluid to proper level and check for correct transaxle operation. See «CHECKING FLUID LEVEL»(ref-149586-S39370578032002101500000) .
