IDENTIFICATION

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is used for correct application of component parts and assemblies. Number is on a plate located at top left of instrument panel and on transaxle flange (exhaust side of engine).

Description

DTC will set if vehicle speed signal not received by PCM after the following conditions are met: transaxle range sensor is placed in "D", "2" or "L" position, engine coolant temperature is 140°F (60°C) or more and turbine speed is 1500 RPM or more.

DTC will set if any ON value from "D", "2" or "L" ranges is input from transaxle range switch with engine speed is 530 RPM or more and "P", "N" or "R" switch value is ON.

DTC will set if "D", "2" or "L" ranges from transaxle range switch are not input to PCM after 100 seconds or more after engine speed has reached 530 RPM or more, and vehicle speed is 12 MPH or more.

DTC will set if TFT sensor voltage is .2 volt or less and vehicle speed is 12 MPH or more, or TFT sensor voltage is 4.9 volts or more and vehicle speed is 12 MPH or more.

DTC will set if vehicle speed is 37 MPH or more for more than 7 minutes and TFT sensor signal remains at 68°F (20°C) or less, or voltage remains at 3.6 volts or more and DTC P0710 is not set.

DTC will set if vehicle speed is 25 MPH and input/turbine speed sensor signal is not input to PCM for one second or more.

DTC will set with ATF temperature greater than 68°F (20°C), transaxle in first gear ("D" position), engine speed at 500 RPM or more, turbine speed at 75 RPM or more, vehicle speed at 4-37 MPH, throttle opening angle at 6.25 percent or more, brake pedal released, turbine speed and vehicle speed under preset value, and DTC P0500, P0710, P0715, P0750, P0755 or P0760 are not output.

DTC will set with ATF temperature greater than 68°F (20°C), transaxle in second gear ("D" position), engine speed at 500 RPM or more, turbine speed at 75 RPM or more, vehicle speed at 6-66 MPH, throttle opening angle at 6.25 percent or more, brake pedal released, turbine speed and vehicle speed under preset value, and DTC P0500, P0710, P0715, P0750, P0755 or P0760 are not output.

DTC will set with ATF temperature greater than 68°F (20°C), transaxle in third gear ("D" position), engine speed at 500 RPM or more, turbine speed at 75 RPM or more, vehicle speed at 19-30 MPH, brake pedal released, turbine speed and vehicle speed under preset value, and DTC P0500, P0710, P0715, P0750, P0755 or P0760 are not output.

DTC will set with ATF temperature greater than 68°F (20°C), transaxle in fourth gear ("D" position), engine speed at 500 RPM or more, turbine speed at 75-4986 RPM, vehicle speed at 47-64 MPH, brake pedal released, turbine speed and vehicle speed less than preset value, and DTC P0500, P0710, P0715, P0750, P0755 or P0760 are not output.

DTC will set with ATF temperature greater than 68°F (20°C), transaxle in fourth gear ("D" position), engine speed at 500 RPM or more, turbine speed at 75 RPM or more, throttle opening angle other than closed throttle position, vehicle speed at 47-64 MPH, brake pedal released, difference between turbine speed and engine speed greater than preset value, TCC activated, O/D OFF switch off, and DTC P0500, P0710, P0715, P0750, P0755 or P0760 are not output.

DTC will set if PCM detects TCC control solenoid voltage remains at battery voltage, or zero volts after engine is started, PCM determines that TCC control solenoid circuit has a malfunction.

DTC will set if PCM detects pressure control solenoid voltage remained at zero with no transaxle shifting, battery voltage is 8 volts or less, and duty ratio of pressure control solenoid is at .25 percent or more, or pressure control solenoid voltage remains at battery voltage with no transaxle shifting and duty ratio of pressure control solenoid is at .25 percent or more.

DTC will set if PCM detects shift solenoid "A" voltage is remaining at battery voltage, or zero volts after engine is started, PCM determines that shift solenoid "A" circuit has a malfunction.

DTC will set if PCM detects shift solenoid "B" voltage is remaining at battery voltage, or zero volts after engine is started, PCM determines that shift solenoid "B" circuit is malfunctioning.

DTC will set if PCM detects shift solenoid "C" voltage is remaining at battery voltage, or zero volts after engine is started, PCM determines that shift solenoid "C" circuit is malfunctioning.

DTC will set if PCM detects 3-2 timing solenoid voltage is remaining at battery voltage, or zero volts after engine is started, PCM determines that 3-2 timing solenoid circuit is malfunctioning.

Inspection Of Operation

Note. O/D OFF indicator light will illuminate if a malfunction exists in any transaxle electronic system component.

  1. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to ON position. Verify that O/D OFF indicator light is not illuminated. Press O/D OFF switch and verify that O/D OFF indicator illuminates. If O/D OFF switch function is not as specified, inspect O/D OFF switch. See «O/D OFF SWITCH»(ref-143069-S39486162602002082200000) .
  2. Inspect terminal voltage of O/D OFF indicator light. See «VOLTAGE CHECK»(ref-143069-S19142715612002101000000) .

PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD mode allows access to certain data values, analog and digital inputs and outputs, calculated values, and system status information. There is a specific PID list that can be accessed by using a scan tool. PID values are continuously updated when accessing PIDs.
