Removal (626 & MX-6)
Note. Heater unit may prevent removal of shift cable on some models. Remove heater unit as needed. See HEATER CASE & CORE .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the steering column covers. Remove the front console. Remove the side panels. Remove the shift lever indictor panel. Remove the indicator screws and lift up the indicator panel.
- Remove the heater unit (if needed). See «HEATER CASE & CORE»(ref-37611-S40195858382001010900000). Remove remaining components in the order indicated in (Scheme 254).
- Slide lock cover and disconnect the set button. (Scheme 255) Pull out the shift cable from the gearshift lever. Disconnect the shift cable from the manual selector lever on the transaxle, by pulling out the shift cable from the manual selector lever cable bracket. Remove manual selector lever cable. | CAUTION | Bending the shift cable will damage the cable and cause it to become loose during shifting. (Scheme 256) When handling and installing the shift cable, hold it straight. |
- To install, reverse order of removal. (Scheme 254)
- Install the heater unit. See «HEATER CASE & CORE»(ref-37611-S40195858382001010900000).
