No Torque Converter Clutch
Check PCM and/or wiring, check valve body and torque converter.
Torque Converter Clutch Always Engaged
Check PCM and/or wiring, valve body, oil pump, torque converter and/or damaged transaxle case.
Torque Converter End Play Check
With torque converter removed from transaxle, position End Play Checking Device (49 UN01 123 ) and Sleeve (49 UN01 120 ) in converter hub. Tighten nut on device. Position a dial indicator on device. Position dial indicator pointer on the converter shell. (Scheme 1) Lift up on device handles. If dial indicator reading exceeds.050" (1.27 mm), replace converter.

Torque Converter Leakage Check
With torque converter removed from transaxle, check for leakage using torque converter leak tester.
One-Way Clutch Check
Place 90 degree end of pick tool in slot on bottom of converter stator. While holding pick, rotate inner race with fingers. One-way clutch should not rotate in counterclockwise direction and should rotate in clockwise direction. Replace converter if one-way clutch does not operate as specified.
Turbine Torque Check
Install End Play Checking Tool (49 UN01 123 ) with Sleeve (49 UN01 120 ) into turbine splines in converter. Using torque wrench, measure turbine turning torque. Replace converter if torque exceeds 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).
