Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove engine splash shield. Drain engine oil. On MX-6 and 626, remove front exhaust pipe and right sub-frame. On all models, remove 2 cylinder block-to-transmission braces and flywheel inspection cover. Remove oil pan. Remove oil strainer to remove oil baffle plate.
Installation
- If using gasket, apply silicone sealant to cylinder block sealing surface, in areas where rear seal case and front cover join cylinder block. Install baffle plate and oil strainer. Install oil pan.
- If gasket is NOT used, apply bead of silicone sealant around entire sealing surface of cylinder block and oil pan. Place silicone bead around the inside perimeter of bolt holes. Install baffle plate and oil strainer. Install oil pan.
