SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
- GENERAL By operating the rear sunshade switch for the front or rear seats, the rear sunshade rises to cover the back window glass and helps block sunlight for the rear passengers.
- REAR SUNSHADE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION By operating the switch, the rear sunshade rises and lowers. When the shift lever is on R, the park/neutral position switch sends a reverse-linked signal to the rear sunshade, and the rear sunshade lowers. The visibility to the rear of the vehicle improves without any switch operation. When the shift lever is moved to P or the vehicle speed is 15 km/h (9 mph) or more, the rear sunshade is raised. When the engine switch is turned off while the rear sunshade is rising or lowering, the operation continues until the rear sunshade has fully risen or fully lowered, respectively. After the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off, the rear sunshade can be operated for approximately 60 seconds.
OPERATION CHECK
- CHECK MANUAL OPERATION By operating the switch, check that the rear sunshade rises and lowers.
- CHECK REVERSE LINKED OPERATION If the shift lever is moved to R while the rear sunshade is rising, check that the rear sunshade automatically lowers. When the shift lever is moved to P or the vehicle is driven at 15 km/h (9 mph) or more, check that the rear sunshade rises again.
- CHECK KEY OFF SWITCH OPERATION When the engine switch is turned off while the rear sunshade is rising or lowering, check that the operation continues until the rear sunshade has fully risen or fully lowered, respectively. After the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off, check that the rear sunshade can be operated for approximately 60 seconds.

DTC DETECTION CONDITION CHART
A rear sunshade switch signal is sent from the No. 2 console switch (Integration control & panel) to the No. 1 console switch (combination switch). Then the signal is sent through LIN communication to the outer mirror switch, which then sends the signal through CAN communication to the rear junction block ECU, and the rear sunshade operates.

- GENERAL By operating the rear door sunshade switch for the front or rear seats, the rear curtain rises to cover the window glass and helps block sunlight for the rear passengers.
- REAR DOOR SUNSHADE SYSTEM DESCRIPTION By operating the switch, check that the rear curtain rises and lowers. After the engine switch is turned from on (IG) or start to off, check that the rear curtain can be operated for approximately 60 seconds. After the rear curtain is fully raised or while the rear curtain is being raised, if the window is moved out of the fully closed position, the sunshade automatically lowers.
- JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION The jam protection function detaches the rear curtain if a foreign object gets jammed in the rear curtain during the raising operation.
HINT
Before performing the inspection, make sure the power window control system is operating normally.
- CHECK MANUAL OPERATION By operating the switch, check that the rear curtain rises and lowers. When the rear curtain on both sides or one side is fully raised and the No. 2 console switch's rear door sunshade switch is pressed, check that the rear curtains lower. When the switch is pressed again, check that the rear curtains rise.
- CHECK KEY OFF SWITCH OPERATION When the read door sunshade is operating and the engine switch is turned from on to off, check that the operation continues. After the engine switch is turned from on (IG) or start to off, check that the rear curtain can be operated for approximately 60 seconds.
- CHECK WINDOW OPERATION LINKED FUNCTION After the rear curtain is fully raised or while the rear curtain is being raised, if the window is moved out of the fully closed position, check that the sunshade automatically lowers.
- CHECK JAM PROTECTION FUNCTION (MECHANICAL DETACHMENT FUNCTION) CAUTION: Do not use a part of your body, for example, your hand, to check the jam protection. Do not allow anything to become caught in the rear curtain by accident in this procedure. Perform the inspection from the inside of the vehicle. NOTE: Do not use hard objects such as a hammer, to avoid damage to the rear curtain. When the rear curtain close operation is operating and an object is caught between the vehicle body and rear curtain, check that the rear curtain detaches. After the rear curtain detaches, the position reset operation must be performed (see «INITIALIZATION» ).
The ECU receives signals from the switch modules and ECUs via the CAN communication system.
