SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. HID HEADLIGHT SYSTEM The HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlight system uses a discharge bulb as its light source for the Lo beam. Discharge bulbs are superior to halogen bulbs. Discharge bulbs have the following features. The light emitted by the bulb is close in color to sunlight. The light shines ahead over a broader area and further forward, increasing the area visible to the driver. Less power is consumed. This system consists of discharge bulbs and headlight control ECUs. The headlight control ECU transforms the voltage that is input from the battery to a high voltage of up to 20000 V and applies it to the discharge bulbs in order to illuminate them. A fail-safe function is provided as a countermeasure against the high voltage that is generated in case that a problem occurs in the headlight system.
  2. AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL SYSTEM When the headlights are on, the automatic headlight beam level control system operates the headlight level actuator in accordance with movement of the vehicle. The automatic headlight beam level control system mainly consists of the AFS ECU, front and rear height control sensor, and 2 headlight level actuators. On models without the air suspension system, the AFS ECU calculates changes in the vehicle posture based on the signals from the height control sensor (front and rear) and each ECU. On models with the air suspension system, the AFS ECU calculates changes in the vehicle posture based on the signals from the air suspension ECU and each ECU. The ECU then controls the headlight level actuator based on this information, in order to change the headlight reflector angle.
  3. AFS An intelligent AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) is used in order to ensure a wide Lo beam lighting area and realize excellent visibility during turns by moving the Lo beam. The intelligent AFS of the this vehicle uses medium-to-high speed control and low speed control. In the medium-to-high speed control, the system calculates the target lighting angle based on the tire angle and vehicle speed and changes the swivel angle of the low-beam headlights individually. During the low speed control, the system calculates the target lighting angle based on the steering angle and changes the swivel angle of the low-beam headlight on the side facing into the turn.
  4. ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM The illuminated entry system of the this vehicle controls 8 kinds of light: engine switch illumination, interior foot light illumination, seat belt buckle switch illumination, courtesy light, door inside handle illumination, interior light (for front and rear) and foot light. The main body ECU controls this system.
  5. INTERIOR LIGHT CONTROL The interior light control (front interior light, engine switch illumination) consists primarily of the fade-in/fade-out function and timer illumination function.
  6. INTERIOR FOOT LIGHT ILLUMINATION CONTROL AND DOOR INSIDE HANDLE ILLUMINATION CONTROL The interior foot light illumination control and door inside handle illumination control consist primarily of the fade-in/fade-out function and timer illumination function.
  7. DOOR MIRROR FOOT LIGHT CONTROL The door mirror foot light control consists primarily of the fade-in/fade-out function and timer illumination function.
  8. SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH ILLUMINATION CONTROL The seat belt buckle switch illumination control consists primarily of the fade-in/fade-out function and timer illumination function.
  9. BATTERY SAVING CONTROL When the following 2 conditions have been met, battery saving control turns off the lights illuminated by the illuminated entry controls (interior light control and interior foot light illumination control). There is no change in the condition of the doors for 20 minutes.
  10. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the headlights and taillights (parking lights, taillights and license plate lights). Ambient light levels are detected by the light control sensor that is integrated into the air conditioning system's front solar sensor. The main body ECU controls this system.
  11. LIGHT AUTO TURN OFF SYSTEM The light auto turn off system is used to prevent the driver from leaving the vehicle with the exterior lights (headlights, fog lights, parking lights, taillights and license plate lights) ON. This system turns all exterior lights OFF approximately 30 seconds after either of the following conditions is met: The engine switch is turned off, any door is opened and all the doors and luggage compartment door are closed with all exterior lights ON. The engine switch is turned off, all the doors are closed and the luggage compartment door is opened and closed with all exterior lights ON. This system turns all exterior lights OFF immediately when the lock button on the wireless remote control is pushed with all the doors are locked. When the engine switch is turned off and the driver's door is opened with the exterior lights other than the headlights ON, this system turns them OFF.
