- INITIAL CHECK 2 seconds or more after turning the engine switch off, turning the engine switch on (IG) causes the pre-collision system to perform an initial check for approximately 3 seconds. If a malfunction is detected in the initial check, after the 3 second initial check, the combination meter assembly's multi-information display displays "Check PCS system". HINT: "Check PCS system" is displayed when a pre-collision system malfunction has been detected and a DTC is output.
- CONSTANT CHECK After the 3 second initial check, the seat belt control ECU and driving support ECU control the system, and perform a constant check to monitor the system. If a malfunction is detected in the constant check, the combination meter assembly's multi-information display displays "Check PCS system" or "PCS not Available Now". HINT: "PCS not Available Now" is displayed during the following conditions: 1) the seat belt control ECU'S overheat protection function has operated; 2) due to bad weather, the radar can detect obstacles; 3) foreign matter is attached to the grille cover or front millimeter wave radar sensor assembly; or 4) foreign matter is attached to the rear bumper or rear millimeter wave radar sensor assembly.
DTC CHECK/CLEAR
- CHECK DTC Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Body Electrical/Pre-Collision 1/Trouble Code / Check for DTCs. Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Body Electrical/Pre-Collision 2/Trouble Code / Check for DTCs. HINT: As the driving support ECU and seat belt control ECU output DTCs for the pre-collision system, be sure to check the DTCs Pre-Collision 1 and Pre-Collision 2.
- CLEAR DTC Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Body Electrical/Pre-Collision 1/Trouble Code / Select "CLEAR", and clear the data. Using the Techstream, enter the following menus: Body Electrical/Pre-Collision 2/Trouble Code / Select "CLEAR", and clear the data. HINT: As the driving support ECU and seat belt control ECU output DTCs for the pre-collision system, be sure to check the DTCs Pre-Collision 1 and Pre-Collision 2.
DATA LIST/ACTIVE TEST
- DATA LIST HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensor, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may by discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Warm up the engine. Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn ON the Techstream. Enter the following menus: All ECUs/(desired menu)/Data List / According to the display on tester, read "Data List". - ACTIVE TEST HINT: Using the Techstream to Perform the Active Tests allows relays, VSVs and actuators and other items to be operated without removing any parts. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active test early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests. Warm up the engine. Turn the engine switch off. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn ON the Techstream. Enter the following menus: All ECUs/(desired menu)/Active Test / According to the display on the tester, perform the "ACTIVE TEST". - READ VALUE USING FRONT MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR Enter the following menus: Powertrain/Radar Cruise /. The select "Data List". Read the Data List and check the country specification information of the front millimeter wave radar sensor and vehicle. Result RESULT CHART Result Proceed to Country specification information for vehicle and front millimeter wave radar sensor matches A Country specification information for vehicle and front millimeter wave radar sensor do not match (Japan<---->Europe, Japan<---->North America) B Country specification information for vehicle and front millimeter wave radar sensor do not match (North America<---->Europe) C HINT: The country specification information of the driving support ECU is decided by the combination meter. Even if the vehicle and sensor country specification information match, if the country specification information for the vehicle and ECU/meter do not match, it is necessary to replace the ECU and meter. When the country specification information (North America<---->Europe) for the vehicle body and sensor do not match, the sensor's information can be overwritten by performing the sensor's axis adjustment. B: REPLACE FRONT MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR (See «REMOVAL»(ref-349744-S01548893102009120800000) ) C: ADJUST FRONT MILLIMETER WAVE RADAR SENSOR (See «ADJUSTMENT»(ref-349744-S24444634422009120800000) ) A: REPLACE COMBINATION METER AND DRIVING SUPPORT ECU
