- Release fuel pressure. See «FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE»(ref-49513-S25187987292001011500000) . Remove air duct located above radiator and engine.
- Remove hood, battery cover and battery. On models with electronic modulated air suspension, ensure ignition switch is turned to OFF position before raising vehicle. Raise and support vehicle.
- Remove lower engine covers. Drain cooling system and engine oil. Remove drive belt, fan clutch assembly and fan pulley.
- Remove radiator. Remove air cleaner cover. Disconnect airflow meter connector and air cleaner hose from intake air connector pipe. Remove air cleaner, airflow meter and hose assembly.
- Disconnect electrical connectors from ignitor. Remove throttle body cover. Disconnect necessary electrical connections and brackets, control cables, coolant hoses, fuel lines and vacuum hoses from throttle body.
- Remove power steering pump and A/C compressor with hoses attached and secure aside. Remove lower trim panel from beneath right side of instrument panel. Remove glove compartment. Disconnect 3 electrical connectors from ECM (located on right kick panel).
- Remove engine wiring harness clamp at firewall. Remove grommet from cowl, and pull engine wiring through firewall.
- Disconnect power steering oil cooler pipe bracket from oil pan. Remove front exhaust pipe from between catalytic converters on exhaust manifolds and rear exhaust pipe. Remove catalytic converters from exhaust manifolds.
- Remove exhaust pipe heat insulator. Remove center floor crossmember braces from beneath drive shaft. Paint reference mark on drive shaft flanges at transmission and rear differential flange for reassembly reference.
- Remove drive shaft center bearing bolts and adjusting washers (if equipped). Adjusting washers are located between drive shaft center bearing and frame. Remove drive shaft flange bolts.
- Push drive shaft toward front of vehicle until drive shaft clears centering pin located in center of differential flange. Remove front and rear drive shafts as an assembly.
- Disconnect shift control rod at transmission. Support transmission with floor jack. Remove bolts/nuts and crossmember located below transmission. Support engine with hoist. Remove engine mount-to-crossmember nuts. Lift engine and transmission as an assembly from vehicle.
