CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note. When using the Techstream with the engine switch off, connect the Techstream to the vehicle and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the Techstream and the vehicle begins. Then select the vehicle type under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access. While using the Techstream, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the Techstream and the vehicle. The steering lock system uses LIN communication.   1. INSPECT STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) (POWER SOURCE MODE SIGNAL) Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector. Disconnect the K28 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. *a Front view of wire harness connector (to Steering Lock ECU (Steering Lock Actuator Assembly)) Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition K28-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms Reconnect the K28 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) connector. PROCEDURE

  1. INSPECT STEERING LOCK ECU (STEERING LOCK ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY) (MOTOR ACTIVATION COMMAND SIGNAL) Make sure that there is no looseness at the locking part and the connecting part of the connector. Disconnect the K28 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) connector. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. *a Front view of wire harness connector (to Steering Lock ECU (Steering Lock Actuator Assembly)) Standard Resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition K28-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ohms Reconnect the K28 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) connector. Move the shift lever to P and turn the engine switch off. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. *a Component with harness connected (Steering Lock ECU (Steering Lock Actuator Assembly)) *b Steering Lock Motor not Operating *c Steering Lock Motor Operating Standard Frequency Item Content Tester Connection K28-3 (IGE) - K28-1 (GND) Tool Setting 2 V/DIV., 200 ms./DIV. Vehicle Condition Steering lock motor not operating --> Operating --> Not operating HINT: When taking measurements when the lock motor is stopped, it is not necessary to perform any operations. In order to take measurements when the lock motor is operating, perform either of the following operations: To unlock the steering, carry the key and turn the engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG).   2. CLEAR DTC AND DATA LIST MALFUNCTION RECORD Clear the DTCs. WARNING: After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notices before proceeding with work. Disconnect the K28 steering lock ECU (steering lock actuator assembly) connector. Disconnect the K6 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. Check for deformation and corrosion of the connector case and terminals. OK There is no deformation or corrosion of the connector case or terminals. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. HINT

When all the ECUs that are connected via LIN communication cannot communicate with the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), DTC B2785 is stored.

  1. CHECK DTC Using the Techstream, check if LIN communication DTC B2785 is output. Refer to «DTC CHECK/CLEAR [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665832-S32731231342014102400000) HINT: If a LIN communication DTC is output, perform troubleshooting for the LIN communication system. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING [04/2013 - ]»(ref-665832-S17970494342014102400000) Result Result Proceed to DTC B2785 is output. A DTC B2785 is not output.   1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (LOCK REQUEST RECEIVE) Use the Data List to check if the steering lock command is functioning properly. Body Electrical > Smart Access > Data List Tester Display Measurement Item Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Lock Request Receive Reception state of steering lock request signal by certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) sent to ID code box (immobilizer code ECU) HINT: The reception state is maintained for 10 seconds. When 10 seconds or more elapsed after receiving the signal, the item changes to "NG". OK or NG OK: Within 10 seconds of opening any door with engine switch off and shift lever in P NG: Except above If this item does not change to "OK" even though the steering lock conditions are met, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) may be malfunctioning. This function prevents the engine from starting while the steering is locked. If the steering is locked for any reason, open and close a door with the engine switch off, and then unlock the steering by pressing the engine switch.

In order to take measurements when the lock motor is operating, perform either of the following operations: To unlock the steering, carry the key and turn the engine switch on (ACC) or on (IG). Check for deformation and corrosion of the connector case and terminals. OK There is no deformation or corrosion of the connector case or terminals. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
