When the audio and visual system is activated with the light control switch in the tail or head position, before AVC-LAN communication is established, the multi-display assembly dims the display according to the illumination signal received via a direct line.

After AVC-LAN communication is established, the multi-display assembly dims the display according to a dimmer signal sent via a direct line.

The radio receiver assembly switches between the daytime screen and night screen on the multi-display assembly according to the illumination signal input.

Scheme 72: WIRING DIAGRAM

When a USB device or "iPod" is connected to the USB jack of the No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly, it must have playable files. The device must also communicate with and be recognized by the radio receiver assembly. This diagnosis procedure is for when a device is not recognized, or files from the device cannot be played normally.

Vehicle speed signals are received from the combination meter assembly and used to cancel "Bluetooth" function operation.

The radio receiver assembly recognizes that the vehicle is being driven and makes it impossible to connect or register a "Bluetooth" device while driving.

HINT

  1. A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from each ECU and then input to the combination meter assembly. The signal is changed to a pulse signal at the transistor in the combination meter assembly. Each ECU controls its respective system based on this pulse signal.
  2. If a short occurs in any of the ECUs or in the wire harness connected to an ECU, all systems in the following diagram will not operate normally.

Scheme 76: WIRING DIAGRAM

This circuit sends an operation signal from the steering pad switch assembly to the radio receiver assembly.

If there is an open in the circuit, the audio and visual system cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly.

If there is a short in the circuit, the same condition as when a switch is continuously depressed occurs.

Therefore, the radio receiver assembly cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly, also the radio receiver assembly itself will not function.

The radio receiver assembly sends a sound signal to the stereo component amplifier assembly via this circuit.

The sound signal that has been sent is amplified by the stereo component amplifier assembly, and then is sent to the speakers.

If there is an open or short in the circuit, sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the stereo component amplifier assembly, DCM (telematics transceiver)*1 or speakers.

Scheme 80: WIRING DIAGRAM

The No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly sends the sound signal from an external device to the radio receiver assembly via this circuit.

The sound signal that has been sent is amplified by the stereo component amplifier assembly and then is sent to the speakers.

If there is an open or short in the circuit, sound cannot be heard from the speakers even if there is no malfunction in the stereo component amplifier assembly, radio receiver assembly, DCM (telematics transceiver)*1 or speakers.

The No. 1 stereo jack adapter assembly sends the sound data signal or image data signal from a USB device to the radio receiver assembly via this circuit.

This circuit sends a signal to the stereo component amplifier assembly to mute noise. Due to this, the noise produced by changing the sound source ceases.

If there is an open in the circuit, noise can be heard from the speakers when changing the sound source.

If there is a short in the circuit, even though the stereo component amplifier assembly is functioning normally, no sound or only an extremely faint sound can be heard.

The DCM (telematics transceiver) sends a mute signal to the stereo component amplifier assembly.

The stereo component amplifier assembly controls the volume according to the mute signal from the DCM (telematics transceiver).

Each unit of the audio and visual system connected to the AVC-LAN (communication bus) transfers switch signals through the AVC-LAN.

If a short to +B or short to ground occurs in the AVC-LAN, the audio and visual system will not function normally because communication is not possible.

The stereo component amplifier assembly receives a vehicle speed signal from the combination meter assembly to control the ASL function.

HINT

  1. A voltage of 12 V or 5 V is output from each ECU and then input to the combination meter assembly. The signal is changed to a pulse signal at the transistor in the combination meter assembly. Each ECU controls its respective systems based on this pulse signal.
  2. If a short occurs in any of the ECUs or in the wire harness connected to an ECU, all systems in the diagram below will not operate normally.

INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT WAVEFORM) Check the output waveform. *a Component with harness connected (Combination Meter Assembly) - - Remove the combination meter assembly with the connector(s) still connected. Connect an oscilloscope to terminal K3-19 (+S) and body ground. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn a wheel slowly. Check the signal waveform according to the condition(s) in the table below. This circuit is used when the voice switch of the steering pad switch assembly is pushed.

Using this circuit, the radio receiver assembly sends signals to the stereo component amplifier assembly.

The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) sends an auto dimmer signal to the radio receiver assembly via this circuit.

When the radio receiver assembly receives an auto dimmer signal from the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), the radio receiver assembly causes the instrument panel illumination to be dimmed.

Scheme 89: WIRING DIAGRAM

The radio receiver assembly sends a visual mute signal to the multi-display assembly. As a result, a black screen is displayed when the screen changes so that noise and distorted images are not displayed.

When an open exists in the circuit, noise and distorted images will be displayed instead of a black screen.

When a short exists in the circuit, even though the multi-display assembly is operating normally, noise and distorted images will be displayed (black screen will not be displayed) during screen changes or the black screen will always be displayed.
