PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Refer to how to proceed with troubleshooting. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-387386-S38807516092011022400000) . If the multiplex communication system is operating normally, proceed to the next step. NEXT: Go to next step
  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch ON (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Turn the clearance sonar main switch ON. Select the item below in the Data List, and read its value displayed on the Techstream to check the clearance sonar main switch. Result CLEARANCE WARNING ECU: Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note Main Switch Clearance sonar main switch / OFF or ON OFF: Clearance sonar main switch OFF ON: Clearance sonar main switch ON - OK --> PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE NG: Go to next step
  3. PERFORM SATELLITE SWITCH Check operation speed and tach indicator system. Refer to «CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS»(ref-387413-S20170572032011022400000) . Result Result Proceed to The system operates normally OK The system does not operate normally NG NG --> GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM OK: Go to next step
  4. REPLACE CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY Replace the clearance warning ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-387456-S19811406542011022400000) . NEXT: Go to next step

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch ON (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Turn the clearance sonar main switch ON. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the buzzer operates. CLEARANCE WARNING ECU: Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Rear Buzzer Rear buzzer (Clearance warning buzzer) STOP or OPERATE - OK No. 1 clearance warning buzzer sounds. OK --> PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE NG: Go to next step
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER - CLEARANCE WARNING ECU) Disconnect the Q37 ECU connector. Disconnect the J39 buzzer connector. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition CBZ (Q37-9) - J39-2 Always Below 1 ohms CBZ (Q37-9) - Body ground Always 10 kohms or higher NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step
  3. CHECK NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER (TERMINAL VOLTAGE) Disconnect the J39 buzzer connector. Measure the voltage of the connector. Standard voltage Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition J39-1 - Body ground Engine switch ON (IG) 10 to 14 V NG --> REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER - BATTERY) OK: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER Apply battery voltage and check operation of the warning buzzer, as shown in the table. Measurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) --> J39-1 Battery negative (-) --> J39-2 Operating sound occurs HINT: The clearance warning buzzer does not sound without battery voltage applied because the buzzer is a separately-excited type. NG --> REPLACE NO. 1 CLEARANCE WARNING BUZZER OK --> REPLACE CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY
