INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT

  1. If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to see under the seat cushion.
  2. In the above case, hold the seat so that it does not fall down. Hold the seat only as necessary because holding the seat for a long period of time may cause seat rail deformation.

  1. CHECK CONNECTORS Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. OK The connectors are properly connected. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.   3. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (OPEN) Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Using SST, connect terminals 2 (RBE+) and 1 (RBE-) of connector C. NOTE: Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting. SST: 09843-18040 Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.   6. CHECK DTC Connect the connectors to the occupant classification ECU and front seat inner belt assembly RH. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398103-S42135564202011051600000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398246-S01125415292011051600000) . Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (IG). Check for DTCs of the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398103-S42135564202011051600000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 7 OK --> See step 11
  7. REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat inner belt assembly RH. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398091-S30529843822011051600000) . HINT: Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle if possible. Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Clear the DTCs stored in the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398103-S42135564202011051600000) . Clear the DTCs stored in the center airbag sensor assembly. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398246-S01125415292011051600000) . Turn the power switch off. Turn the power switch on (IG). Check for DTCs of the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398103-S42135564202011051600000) . OK DTC B1771 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1771 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 8 OK --> END
  8. REPLACE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398090-S12538163052011051600000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  9. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform Zero Point Calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-398103-S03414413432011051600000) . OK "Zero Point Calibration is complete." is displayed. NEXT: Go to next step
  10. PERFORM SENSITIVITY CHECK Using the Techstream, perform Sensitivity Check. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-398103-S03414413432011051600000) . Standard 27 to 33 kg (59.5 to 72.8 lb) NEXT --> END
  11. USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK. Refer to «HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-398089-S18270818032011051600000)

HINT

  1. If troubleshooting (wire harness inspection) is difficult to perform, remove the front passenger seat installation bolts to see under the seat cushion.

Check that the connectors are properly connected to the occupant classification ECU and front occupant classification sensor LH. OK The connectors are properly connected. HINT: If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection. Disconnect the connectors from the occupant classification ECU and front occupant classification sensor LH. Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged. OK The terminals are not deformed or damaged. NG --> REPLACE FRONT SEAT WIRE RH OK: Go to next step
  2. CHECK FRONT SEAT WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Turn the power switch on (IG). Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. SST: 09843-18040 Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below. Check for DTCs of the occupant classification ECU. Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-398103-S42135564202011051600000) . OK DTC B1780 is not output. HINT: Codes other than DTC B1780 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check. NG --> See step 7 OK --> See step 10
  7. REPLACE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat assembly RH. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398249-S33005380292011051600000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  8. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Using the Techstream, perform Zero Point Calibration. Refer to «INITIALIZATION»(ref-398103-S03414413432011051600000) . OK "Zero Point Calibration is complete." is displayed. NEXT: Go to next step

  7. REPLACE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat assembly RH. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398249-S33005380292011051600000) . NEXT: Go to next step
  8. PERFORM ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG).   7. REPLACE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH Turn the power switch off. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Replace the front seat assembly RH. Refer to «REMOVAL»(ref-398249-S33005380292011051600000) . NEXT: Go to next step
