- INSPECT SPEEDOMETER (METER OPERATION) Drive the vehicle and check if operation of the speedometer in the combination meter is normal. HINT: The vehicle speed sensor is operating normally if the speedometer display is normal. NG --> CHECK SPEEDOMETER CIRCUIT OK: Go to next step
- INSPECT TCM Shift the lever to the neutral position. Jack up the vehicle. Disconnect the TCM connector. Turn the engine switch on (IG). - Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The TCM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction. Refer to «FREEZE FRAME DATA»(ref-396630-S23203956252011050900000) .

If DTCs P0711 and P2610 are output simultaneously, confirm that the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition" using the Techstream first. When the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition", perform troubleshooting for DTC P2610. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART . - PERFORM ACTIVE TEST Warm up the engine. Turn the engine switch off. Connect Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the engine switch on (IG). Turn Techstream on. When using Techstream: Enter the following items: "Powertrain / ECT / Active Test". According to the display on the tester, perform "Active Test". Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note Activate the Lock Up [Test Details] Control the shift solenoid SLU and SL to set the automatic transaxle to the lock-up condition. [Vehicle Condition] Throttle valve opening angle: Less than 20% Vehicle speed: 37 mph (60 km/h) or more, and 6th gear [Lock-up] 0: OFF 1: ON Possible to check the SLU and SL solenoid operation. HINT: This test can be conducted when the vehicle speed is 37 mph (60 km/h) or more. This test can be conducted in the 6th gear. Lightly depress the accelerator pedal and check that the engine speed does not change abruptly. HINT: When changing the accelerator pedal opening angle while driving, if the engine speed does not change, lock-up is on. Slowly release, but not fully, the accelerator pedal in order to decelerate. (Fully releasing the pedal will close the throttle valve and lock-up may be turned off.)

- If the CAN communication malfunctions, the TCM cannot receive the current data from the ECM. In this case, the freeze frame data output from the TCM has not been updated, so the data will not be useful for the inspection. However, reading the Data List as the first step in troubleshooting is effective to find malfunctions.
- The malfunction area can be checked using the BUS CHECK function on Techstream. Refer to «DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM»(ref-396655-S14818501412011050900000) .

This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values.
