REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

WARNINGVehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
CAUTIONWhen battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

TRANSMITTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Note. When you replace the battery, prepare a lithium battery CR1616 and a special screwdriver.

Removal

CAUTIONWhen replacing the battery, be careful not to lose the components, screws and "O" ring.
CAUTIONDo not replace battery with wet hands. Water may cause unexpected rust.
CAUTIONDo not touch or move any components inside of the transmitter, or it may interfere with proper operation. Be careful not to bend the electrode of the battery insertion and that dust or oils do not adhere to the inside of the module.
  1. Remove the transmitter sub-assembly module set door control. See «TRANSMITTER SUB-ASSEMBLY MODULE SET DOOR CONTROL»(ref-152162-S19463519672003012100000).
  2. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 screws and cover. (Scheme 132)
  3. Remove the transmitter battery (lithium battery).

Installation

  1. Install the transmitter battery (lithium battery) as shown in the illustration. (Scheme 133)
  2. Check that the "O" ring is not distorted or slipped off. Install the cover.
  3. Using a screwdriver, tighten the 2 screws.

  1. Using a screwdriver, remove the screw and cover. Push the cover with a finger as shown in the illustration, so that there becomes clearance, then pry out the cover from that clearance. (Scheme 134)
  2. For installation, reverse removal procedure.
  3. After installation, register recognition code. See «RECOGNITION CODE REGISTRATION»(ref-152162-S39237023482003012100000) under PROGRAMMING.
