DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
| WARNING | Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. |
| CAUTION | When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. |
MOON ROOF & SIDE WINDOW OPERATION
The side windows and moon roof can be opened using a wireless key from outside the vehicle (the window and moon roof can be deactivated). Push the UNLOCK button until the windows and moon roof start to move. When you release the button, the windows and moon roof stop operating.
Wireless Door Lock Or Unlock Normal Operation
With the ignition key not inserted into the ignition key cylinder (unlock warning switch off) and all doors completely closed, when the lock or unlock button (transmitter) is pushed, the door lock control receiver receives the electrical waves from the transmitter, and sends a signal to the body ECU, causing it to operate.
Wireless Door Unlock Operation
Pushing the unlock button (transmitter) once, the driver's door is unlocked. Furthermore, pushing the button again within 3 seconds, the other doors are unlocked.
Automatic Lock Operation
With the ignition key not inserted into the ignition key cylinder (unlock warning switch off) and all the doors completely closed, after pushing the button (transmitter) to unlock all the doors, if a door is not opened within 30 seconds, all the doors will be automatically relocked.
Remote Panic Operation
Panic will function when doors are locked or unlocked, open or closed. When the panic button (transmitter) is pushed once, theft alarm and horn sounds and turn signal lights, headlights and taillights flash. Then, the panic or the unlock button (transmitter) is pushed once more, sounding and flashing will stop. Panic will not function when ignition key is in ignition key cylinder.
SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK
- Trouble shooting of a remote keyless entry system complaint begins with verification of the customer problem. Perform the Customer Problem Analysis Check (Remote Keyless Entry System). (Scheme 116)
- Inspect the communication function of the large-scale body multiplex communication system (BEAN). Check that there is no abnormality in the communication system by inspecting with a hand-held tester: (ECU unconnected, communication line abnormal) Without code outputs, go to step 3. (ECU unconnected, communication line abnormal) With code outputs, go to «MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM»(ref-152050) article in COMMUNICATION DEVICES.
- Check the diagnostic trouble code. See «DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS»(ref-152162-S32707327971999071500000) table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM: Without code outputs, go to step 4. With code outputs, go to step 6.
- Refer to symptoms table. See «SYMPTOM INDEX (WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM)»(ref-152162-S12163616032004040100000) table: Without applicable symptoms, go to step 5. With applicable symptoms, go to step 6. SYMPTOM INDEX (WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM) Symptom Perform Test All Functions Of Wireless Door Lock Control System Do Not Operate (Power Door Lock System Does Operate) «TEST B»(ref-152162-S40294665792003011700000) No Answer Back «TEST C»(ref-152162-S21772430762003011700000)
- Perform trouble shooting in the following method, depending on the malfunction symptom: Pre-check. See «PRE-CHECK»(ref-152162-S08407170662003011700000) under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Inspection with hand-held tester (ECU DATA MONITOR) and hand-held tester (ACTIVE TEST). Terminal of ECU. See «TERMINALS OF ECU»(ref-152162-S19044612522003011700000) under COMPONENT TESTS. On-vehicle inspection. See «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION»(ref-152162-S27913926682003011700000).
- Perform necessary adjustments, repairs or replacements.
