CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
- Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
- Turn the power switch on (IG).
- Turn the Techstream on.
- Record the DTC(s) and freeze frame data.
- Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation). Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568607-S14015113742013072300000) .
- Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode). Refer to «INSPECTION MODE PROCEDURE»(ref-568589-S23460353802013072300000) .
- Using the Techstream, switch the ECM from normal mode to check mode. Refer to «CHECK MODE PROCEDURE»(ref-568607-S40571338672013072300000) .
- Read the misfire counts of each cylinder, Cylinder #1 Misfire Count to Cylinder #4 Misfire Count, with the engine idling. If any misfire count is displayed, skip the following confirmation driving pattern.
- Drive the vehicle several times with the conditions, such as engine speed and engine load, shown in Misfire RPM and Misfire Load in the freeze frame data. HINT: In order to store misfire DTCs, it is necessary to operate the vehicle for the period of time shown in the table below, using the Misfire RPM and Misfire Load in the Data List. Engine Speed Duration Idling 4 minutes or more 1000 4 minutes and 30 seconds or more 2000 2 minutes and 30 seconds or more 3000 1 minute and 30 seconds or more
- Check whether misfires have occurred by checking DTCs and freeze frame data. HINT: Do not turn the power switch off until the stored DTC(s) and freeze frame data have been recorded. When the ECM returns to normal mode (default), the stored DTC(s), freeze frame data and other data will be cleared.
- Record the DTC(s), freeze frame data and misfire counts.
- Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 5 seconds.
- Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC operation). Refer to «DTC CHECK / CLEAR»(ref-568607-S14015113742013072300000) .

- Turn the power switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
- Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

- Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or higher [A].
- Accelerate the vehicle to 60 km/h (37 mph) or more by depressing the accelerator pedal for at least 10 seconds [B]. WARNING: When performing the confirmation driving pattern, obey all speed limits and traffic laws. PROCEDURE
- CHECK ANY OTHER DTCS OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0420) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes. Read the DTCs. - PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (CONTROL THE INJECTION VOLUME) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Run up the engine at an engine speed of 2500 RPM for approximately 90 seconds. HINT: During charging control, the engine speed is set at idle. - READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VAPOR PRESSURE PUMP AND MAP) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Primary / Vapor Pressure Pump and MAP. Compare the Vapor Pressure Pump and MAP data from the Data List with day's atmospheric pressure*. HINT: *: Standard atmospheric pressure is 101 kPa (758 mmHg). For every 100 m (328 ft.) increase in altitude, pressure drops by 1 kPa (7.5 mmHg). The pressure also varies due to the weather (high atmospheric pressure, low atmospheric pressure). Also, check "Atmosphere Pressure" in the Data List. If you do not know the atmospheric pressure refer to the Vapor Pressure Pump value of other vehicles in the workshop and check the difference in pressure.
