INSTALLATION

  1. Lubricate inside of three main-silencer hangers with a silicone lubricant.
  2. Clean mating surfaces as required.
  3. Install one new gasket on bolts.
  4. Install main silencer in three hangers.
  5. Install two nuts at main silencer flange. Tightening torque: 27.4~38.3 lb.ft (37.2~51.9 N.m, 3.8~5.3 kg.m)

Scheme 350: REMOVAL
  1. Disconnect intake air temperature sensor connector.
  2. Disconnect mass air flow sensor connector.
  3. Loosen clamp on outlet hose of air cleaner housing.
  4. Remove air intake hoses from air cleaner housing.
  5. Remove bolts holding the top of air cleaner housing in place.
  6. Remove top of air cleaner housing.
  7. Remove air cleaner element.
  8. Clean air cleaner housing of any dirt or dust.
  1. Install new air cleaner element.
  2. Reinstall top of air cleaner housing and three bolts.
  3. Install air intake hoses and tighten clamps.
  4. Connect intake air temperature sensor and mass air flow sensor connectors.

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  2. Loosen power steering lock bolts and nuts accordingly and remove tension from power steering (P/S) and/or air conditioning (A/C) compressor drive belt.
  3. Remove P/S and/or A/C drive belt.
  4. Loosen generator mounting bolts and adjusting bolt.
  5. Remove generator bolts.
  6. Remove water pump pulley.
  7. Remove crankshaft pulley and timing belt guide plate.
  8. Remove upper and lower timing belt covers.
  9. Turn crankshaft so that timing mark on timing belt pulley is aligned with timing mark on engine.
  10. Check that T mark on intake camshaft pulley is aligned with mark on cylinder head cover and "E" mark on exhaust camshaft pulley is aligned with mark on cylinder head cover. Do not move camshaft or crankshaft once timing marks have been correctly positioned.
  11. Loosen tensioner pulley lock bolt.
  12. Protect timing belt with a rag.
  13. Remove tensioner pulley.
  14. Remove timing belt. NOTE: Mark the direction of timing belt rotation (on the timing belt) for proper reinstallation.
