INSPECTION
- Check water pump for cracks and damage.
- Check for abnormal noise, bearing sticking or loose.
- Replace water pump if necessary.

- Remove any gasket fragments, dirt or oil from sealing surfaces.
- Install new gasket on water pump. NOTE: To prevent dropping the gasket when installing, put sealant in gasket groove. But do not apply to sealing surfaces.
- Install water pump. Tightening torque: 14~19 lb-ft (19~26 N.m, 1.9~2.6 kg-m)
- Install tensioner, idler and timing belt. See «TIMING SYSTEM»(ref-159087-S07179243332005020100000) .
- Fill engine coolant.
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Start engine and check for leaks.

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove fresh air duct.
- Disconnect upper radiator hose.
- Disconnect cooling fan motor connector.
- Disconnect condenser fan motor connector.
- Disconnect coolant reservoir hose.
- Remove radiator brackets.
- Disconnect Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) inlet and outlet pipe.
- Disconnect lower radiator hose.
- Lift radiator assembly from engine compartment.
- Remove cooling fan assembly and condenser fan assembly.

- Check for cracks, damage or water leakage.
- Check for bent fins. If bent, repair with a fin comb or similar tool.
- Check for damaged radiator inlet and outlet and hose connections.

- Install cooling fan assembly and condenser fan assembly.
- Install radiator assembly into engine compartment.
- Connect lower radiator hose.
- Connect ATF inlet and outlet pipes.
- Install radiator brackets.
- Connect coolant reservoir hose.
- Connect condenser fan motor connector.
- Connect cooling fan motor connector.
- Connect upper radiator hose.
- Install fresh air duct.
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Fill engine coolant. See «ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-159087-S15983726202005020100000) .
- Start engine and check for leaks.

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove fresh air duct.
- Disconnect cooling fan motor connector.
- Remove upper radiator hose.
- Remove upper two radiator cowling bolts.
- Remove lower two radiator cowling bolts.
- Lift radiator cowling from engine compartment.
- Remove clip and fan. Remove three fan motor bolts and nuts.

- Install fan motor and tighten three fan motor bolts and nuts.
- Install fan and clip
- Install radiator cowling to radiator.
- Install and tighten two upper radiator cowling bolts. Tightening torque: 5.8~7.9 lb.ft (7.8~10.8 N.m, 0.8~1.1 kg.m)
- Install and tighten lower two radiator cowling bolts. Tightening torque: 5.8~7.9 lb.ft (7.8~10.8 N.m, 0.8~1.1 kg.m)
- Install upper radiator hose.
- Connect cooling fan motor connector.
- Install fresh air duct and tighten bolt and nut.
- Fill engine coolant See «ENGINE COOLANT»(ref-159087-S15983726202005020100000) .
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Start engine and check for leaks.

- Remove foreign material from radiator cap valve and the valve seat.
- Attach radiator cap to a radiator cap tester. Apply pressure gradually to 15 psi (103 kPa, 1.05 kg/cm2).
- Wait about 10 seconds. Verify that pressure has not decreased.
- Replace radiator cap as necessary.

- Pull negative pressure valve to open it. Verify that it closes completely when released.
- Check for damage on contact surfaces, and for a cracked or deformed seal.
- Replace radiator cap as necessary.

- Disconnect negative battery cable.
- Drain engine coolant.
- Remove bolt and nut of thermostat housing.
- Remove thermostat housing and thermostat.
- Visually check that thermostat is airtight.
- Place thermostat and a thermometer in water.
- Gradually heat water and check following.
Initial opening temperature: 177~182 °F (80.5~83.5 °C)
Full open temperature: 203 °F (95 °C)
Full open lift: 0.31 in (8.0 mm) min.

- Install thermostat into cylinder head with jiggle pin positioned up.
- Install new gasket.
- Place thermostat housing and tighten bolt and nut. Tightening torque: 14~19 lb.ft (19~26 N.m, 1.9~2.6 kg.m)
- Fill radiator with specified amount and type of engine coolant.
- Connect negative battery cable.
- Start engine and check for leaks.
