DLC Circuit Troubleshooting
If the ECM does not communicate with a scan tool, the HDS, or I/M test equipment, do this troubleshooting procedure.

- Measure voltage between DLC terminal No. 16 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 2. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 8 and the ACGS (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box.
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 4 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 3. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 8 and body ground (G401).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 16. Is there battery voltage? YES - Go to step 4. NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 8 and body ground (G101).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 8.5 V or more? YES - Go to step 10 . NO - Go to step 6.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM connector A (32P). Make sure the scan tool or the HDS is disconnected from the DLC.
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short to ground in the wire between DLC terminal No. 15 and the ECM (A21). After repairing the wire, check for DTCs with a scan tool or the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting . NO - Go to step 9.
- Check for continuity between DLC terminal No. 15 and ECM terminal A21. Is there continuity? YES - Substitute a known-good ECM (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE ECM FOR TESTING PURPOSES»(ref-221328-S04997151962006022400000) ) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original ECM (see «ECM REPLACEMENT»(ref-221329-S30667517252006022400000) ). NO - Repair open in the wire between DLC terminal No. 7 and the ECM (A21). After repairing the wire, check for DTCs with a scan tool or the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECM connector A (32P). Make sure a scan tool or the HDS is disconnected from the DLC.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Measure voltage between DLC terminals No. 5 and No. 7. Is there 0 V? YES - Substitute a known-good ECM (see «HOW TO SUBSTITUTE THE ECM FOR TESTING PURPOSES»(ref-221328-S04997151962006022400000) ) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original ECM (see «ECM REPLACEMENT»(ref-221329-S30667517252006022400000) ). NO - Repair short to power in the wire between the DLC terminal No. 7 and the ECM (A21). After repairing the wire, check for DTCs with a scan tool or the HDS, and go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

- Relieve the fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(ref-221332-S01007787392006022400000) ).
- Remove the fuel rail cover (A), then disconnect the connectors from the injectors (B).
- Disconnect the vacuum hose and fuel return hose from the fuel pressure regulator (C). Place a rag or shop towel over the hoses before disconnecting them.
- Disconnect the fuel hose (D) from the fuel rail (E). Remove the vacuum lines (F).
- Remove the retainer nuts (G) and bolts (H) from the fuel rail and harness holder (I).
- Disconnect the PCV valve (J).
- Disconnect the fuel rail.
- Remove the injectors from the intake manifold (K).
- Slide new cushion rings (A) onto the injectors (B).
- Coat new O-rings (C) with clean engine oil, and put them on the injectors.
- Insert the injectors into the fuel rail (D).
- Coat new seal rings (E) with clean engine oil, and press them into the intake manifold.
- Install the injectors in the intake manifold.
- Install and tighten the retainer nuts.
- Connect the fuel hose to the fuel rail with new washers.
- Connect the vacuum hoses and fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect the PCV valve.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II), but do not operate the starter. After the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds, the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this 2 or 3 times, then check for fuel leakage.

- Disconnect primary HO2S (Sensor 1) 4P connector (A).
- Remove the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) (B).
- Install the primary HO2S (Sensor 1) in the reverse order of removal.

- Disconnect secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) 4P connector (A).
- Remove the secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) (B).
- Install the secondary HO2S (Sensor 2) in the reverse order of removal.

- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
- Remove the left side kick panel (A) to expose the ECM (B).
- Remove the two bolts from the ECM.
- Disconnect the ECM connectors.
- Install the ECM in the reverse order of removal.
- Connect the HDS to the DLC (A) located under the passenger's side of dashboard (2000-2001 models) or behind the driver's side of the front console (2002-2005 models).
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II). NOTE: If DTC P0630 "VIN Not Programmed or Mismatch" is stored at this time, ignore it and continue this procedure (2004-2005 models).
- Input the VIN to the ECM with the HDS.
- Rewrite the immobilizer code with the ECM replacement procedure in the HDS; it allows you to start the engine.
- Reset the ECM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM idle learn procedure (see «IDLE SPEED INSPECTION»(ref-221331-S09851216702006022400000) ).
