APP Sensor Signal Inspection
Note. This procedure is to inspect the abnormalities of the APP sensor full closed position. Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS before this procedure. If there are any DTCs indicated, troubleshoot them first, then do this procedure. Press the accelerator pedal several times, and check the operation. If it does not operate properly, check the accelerator pedal. If you find a problem, replace the accelerator pedal module (see ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
Scheme 97
- Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC) (A) located under the driver's side of the dashboard.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Make sure the HDS communicates with the PCM. If it doesn't, go to the DLC circuit troubleshooting (see «DLC CIRCUIT TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-355276-S19683854952010012200000) ).
- Make sure the accelerator pedal is not pressed and check the APP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. If it is 0%, the APP sensor is OK. If it is not 0%, update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-372404-S39927773792010092500000) ), then go to the step 4.
- Make sure the accelerator pedal is not pressed and check the APP SENSOR in the DATA LIST with the HDS. If it is 0%, the APP sensor is OK. If it is not 0%, replace the accelerator pedal module (see «ACCELERATOR PEDAL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-294721-S26801838212008081300000) ), then go to step 1 .
Scheme 98
- Disconnect the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 6P connector (A).
- Remove the accelerator pedal module (B). NOTE: The APP sensor is not available separately. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal assembly.
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
Scheme 99
- Disconnect the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor 6P connector (A).
- Remove the accelerator pedal module (B). NOTE: The APP sensor is not available separately. Do not disassemble the accelerator pedal assembly.
- Install the parts in the reverse order of removal.
- Adjust the brake pedal height (see «BRAKE PEDAL AND BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH ADJUSTMENT»(ref-294682-S19902146202008081300000) ).
