- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P0563 indicated? YES -Go to step 7. NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the No. 6 Fl ECU (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box, PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN), and the ECM/PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Measure the voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminal E7 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES -Go to step 13 . NO -Go to step 11.
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-290806-S13331020522008072200000) ), then remove PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) (A).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal E7 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES -Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (E7) and PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN), then go to step 20 . NO -Go to step 19 .
- Reconnect ECM/PCM connector E (31P).
- Measure the voltage between ECM/PCM connector terminal E7 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES -Go to step 15. NO -Go to step 27 .
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (31P).
- Measure the voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A2 individually. Is there battery voltage? YES -Go to step 17. NO -Go to step 27 .
- Remove the glove box (see «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-290806-S13331020522008072200000) ), then remove PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) (A).
- Measure the voltage between body ground and ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A2 individually. YES -Repair short to power in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A2, A3) and PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN), then go to step 20 . NO -Go to step 19.
- Test PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) (see «POWER RELAY TEST»(ref-290831-S29773354882008072200000) ). Is PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) OK? YES -Go to step 27 . NO -Replace PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN), then go to step 20.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-290807-S02808252682008072200000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P0563 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-355245-S27182940282010012100000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-290833-S34742010492008072200000) ).
- Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P0563 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at PGM-FI main relay 1 (Fl MAIN) and the ECM/PCM. If the ECM/PCM was updated, substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-290833-S34742010492008072200000) ), then recheck. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO -If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-355245-S09328189752010012100000) ). If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTCs troubleshooting.
