- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HAS.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P0651 indicated? YES -Go to next step. NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM and these components: MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Disconnect the connectors from these components: MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HAS.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P0651 indicated? YES -Go to step 10 . NO -Go to next step.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS while reconnecting these components, one at a time: MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor Is DTC P0651 indicated? YES -Replace the component that caused the DTC when it was reconnected, then go to step 14 . NO -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM and the following components, then go to step 1 . MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HAS.
- Disconnect PCM connectors A (49P), B (49P), and C (49P).
- Check for continuity between body ground and PCM connector terminals A25, A36, B36, and C11 individually. Is there continuity? YES -Repair a short in the wire between the PCM (A25, A36, B36, or C11) and each component that was disconnected in step 5 , then go to next step. NO -Go to step 20 .
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the PCM with the HAS.
- Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-360079-S22847966492010042600000) (+).
- Check for DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P0651 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM and the following components, then go to step 1 . MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM UPDATE»(ref-360080-S11980508702010042600000) (+) or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) (+).
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HAS. Is DTC P0651 indicated? YES -If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) (+) then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, check for poor connections or loose terminals at the PCM and the following components, then go to step 1 . MAP sensor Output shaft (countershaft) speed sensor Rocker arm oil pressure sensor A/C pressure sensor APP sensor FTP sensor NO -If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-360080-S27881728262010042600000) (+). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
