Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).

- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES -Go to next step. NO -Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect the throttle body 6P connector.
- Disconnect PCM connector B (49P).
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal B33 and throttle body 6P connector terminal No. 3. Is there continuity? YES -Go to next step. NO -Repair an open in the wire between the throttle body and the PCM (B33), then go to step 18 .
- Disconnect PCM connector C (49P).
- Check for continuity between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2. Is there continuity? YES -Repair a short in the wires between throttle body 6P connector terminal No. 2 (ETCS- line) and No. 1 (ETCS+ line), then go to step 18 . NO -Go to next step.
- Check for continuity between body ground and throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 individually. Is there continuity? YES -Repair a short in the wire between the throttle body 6P connector and body ground, then go to step 18 . NO -Go to next step.
- At the throttle body side, measure the resistance between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with the throttle fully closed. Is there about 1.0 ohms or less? YES -Go to next step. NO -Go to step 17 .
- Connect throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 with a jumper wire.
- Check for continuity between PCM connector terminals C2 and C3. Is there continuity? YES -Go to next step. NO -Repair an open in the wire between the throttle body and the PCM (C2, C3), then go to step 18 .
- At the throttle body side, check for continuity between body ground and throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 1 and No. 2 individually. Is there continuity? YES -Go to next step. NO -Go to step 26 .
- Replace the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-360078-S26693253132010042600000) ).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the PCM with the HDS.
- Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see «PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-360079-S22847966492010042600000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the PCM, then go to step 1 . NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «PCM UPDATE»(ref-360080-S11980508702010042600000) ), or substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE PCM»(ref-360056-S32194616542010042600000) ), then go to step 28 . If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO -If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM (see «PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-360080-S27881728262010042600000) ). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
