Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.
- Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0369 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Does the HDS indicate FAILED? YES -Go to step 7 . NO -If the HDS indicates PASSED, go to step 5. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, keep idling until a result comes on.
- Test-drive the vehicle for several minutes in the range of these recorded freeze data parameters: ENGINE SPEED VSS
- Monitor the OBD STATUS for DTC P0369 in the DTCs MENU with the HDS. Does the HDS indicate FAILED? YES -Go to step 7. NO -If the HDS indicates PASSED, intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at CMP sensor B and the PCM. If the HDS indicates NOT COMPLETED, go to step 5 and recheck.
- Check for poor connections or loose terminals at these locations: CMP sensor ECM/PCM Engine ground Body ground Are the connections and terminals OK? YES -Go to step 8. NO -Repair the connectors or terminals, then go to step 11 .
- Check for damage to the front camshaft pulley (CMP sensor pulse plate) (see «CMP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-423675-S38288812442011092800000) ). Is the pulse plate damaged? YES -Replace the front camshaft pulley (CMP sensor pulse plate); J35Z2 engine (see «CAMSHAFT REPLACEMENT»(ref-423691-S27539516302011092800000) ), J35Z3 engine (see «CAMSHAFT REPLACEMENT»(ref-423692-S14268841182011092800000) ), then go to step 11 . NO -Go to step 9.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Replace the CMP sensor (see «CMP SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-423675-S38288812442011092800000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-423700-S15361251852011092800000) ).
- Start the engine, and let it idle for 10 seconds.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P0369 indicated? YES -Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CMP sensor and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated «DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-423675-S09378413782011092800000) .
