Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ). Do not turn the ignition switch to ACC (I) or LOCK (0) while updating the PCM. If you do, the PCM will be damaged.
- Do the PCM update procedure (PGM-FI system and A/T system) (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-424872-S33907592622011100100000) ).
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC U0300 indicated? YES -Replace the original PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424872-S02763351832011100100000) ). NO -Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated «DTC'S TROUBLESHOOTING»(ref-424872-S05508943922011100100000) .

- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P).
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 88-111 ohms? YES -Go to step 28 . NO -Go to step 5.
- Disconnect these connectors: Gauge control module 32P (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-424899-S22165754352011100100000) ). VSA modulator-control unit 36P (see «VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-424878-S08248656342011100100000) ). Yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 5P (see «YAW RATE-LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-424878-S12892855122011100100000) ). SRS unit A (39P) (see «SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424902-S23117515632011100100000) ). TPMS control unit (20P) (see «TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424917-S34324735942011100100000) ). Navigation unit B (32P) (if equipped) (see «DVD-ROM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424918-S21226416612011100100000) ).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there continuity? YES -Repair short in the wires between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. NO -Go to step 7.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A3 and gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 30. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 8. NO -Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A3) and the gauge control module.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A3 and VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector terminal No. 14. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 9. NO -Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A3) and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A4 and gauge control module 32P connector terminal No. 29. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 10. NO -Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A4) and the gauge control module.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A4 and VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector terminal No. 1. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 11. NO -Repair open in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A4) and the VSA modulator-control unit.
- Reconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 2.34-2.86 kohms? YES -Go to step 13. NO -Substitute a known-good gauge control module (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-424899-S22165754352011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original gauge control module (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-424899-S22165754352011100100000) ).
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Reconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector.
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 108-132 O? YES -Go to step 16. NO -Substitute a known-good VSA modulator-control unit (see «VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-424878-S08248656342011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original VSA modulator-control unit (see «VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-424878-S08248656342011100100000) ).
- Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector.
- Reconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 5P connector.
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 2.34-2.86 kohms? YES -Go to step 19. NO -Substitute a known-good yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor (see «YAW RATE-LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-424878-S12892855122011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor (see «YAW RATE-LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-424878-S12892855122011100100000) ).
- Disconnect the yaw-rate lateral acceleration sensor 5P connector.
- Reconnect SRS unit connector A (39P).
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 2.34-2.86 kohms? YES -Go to step 22. NO -Substitute a known-good SRS unit (see «SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424902-S23117515632011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original SRS unit (see «SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424902-S23117515632011100100000) ).
- Disconnect SRS unit connector A (39P).
- Reconnect the TPMS control unit 20P connector.
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 2.34-2.86 kohms? YES - With navigation: Go to step 25. Without navigation: Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-424872-S33907592622011100100000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-424896-S22626174422011100100000) ), then recheck. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424872-S02763351832011100100000) ). NO -Substitute a known-good TPMS control unit (see «TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424917-S34324735942011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original TPMS control unit (see «TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424917-S34324735942011100100000) ).
- Disconnect the TPMS control unit 20P connector.
- Reconnect navigation unit connector B (32P).
- Measure the resistance between ECM/PCM connector terminals A3 and A4. Is there about 2.34-2.86 kohms? YES -Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-424872-S33907592622011100100000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-424896-S22626174422011100100000) ), then recheck. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the HDS identifies the vehicle and the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424872-S02763351832011100100000) ). NO -Substitute a known-good navigation unit (see «DVD-ROM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424918-S21226416612011100100000) ), and reconnect ECM/PCM connector A (49P). If the HDS identifies the vehicle, replace the original navigation unit (see «DVD-ROM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424918-S21226416612011100100000) ).
- Disconnect these connectors: Gauge control module 32P (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-424899-S22165754352011100100000) ). VSA modulator-control unit 36P (see «VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-424878-S08248656342011100100000) ). Yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 5P (see «YAW RATE-LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-424878-S12892855122011100100000) ). SRS unit A (39P) (see «SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424902-S23117515632011100100000) ). TPMS control unit (20P) (see «TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424917-S34324735942011100100000) ). Navigation unit B (32P) (if equipped) (see «DVD-ROM REPLACEMENT»(ref-424918-S21226416612011100100000) ).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A3 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES -Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A3) and the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor, the SRS unit, the TPMS control unit, the navigation unit, or the DLC. NO -Go to step 30.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal A4 and body ground. Is there continuity? YES -Repair short in the wire between the ECM/PCM (A4) and the gauge control module, the VSA modulator-control unit, the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor, the SRS unit, the TPMS control unit, the navigation unit, or the DLC. NO -Go to step 31.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Connect the HDS to the DLC (see «GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION»(ref-424896-S01541148002011100100000) ).
- Disconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS identify the vehicle? YES -Replace the gauge control module (see «GAUGE CONTROL MODULE REPLACEMENT»(ref-424899-S22165754352011100100000) ). NO -Go to step 35.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Reconnect the gauge control module 32P connector.
- Disconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS identify the vehicle? YES -Replace the VSA modulator-control unit (see «VSA MODULATOR-CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION»(ref-424878-S08248656342011100100000) ). NO -Go to step 39.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Reconnect the VSA modulator-control unit 36P connector.
- Disconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 5P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS identify the vehicle? YES -Replace the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor (see «YAW RATE-LATERAL ACCELERATION SENSOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-424878-S12892855122011100100000) ). NO -Go to step 43.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Reconnect the yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor 5P connector.
- Disconnect SRS unit connector A (39P).
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS identify the vehicle? YES -Replace the SRS unit (see «SRS UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424902-S23117515632011100100000) ). NO -Go to step 47.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- Reconnect SRS unit connector A (39P).
- Disconnect the TPMS control unit 20P connector.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and read the HDS. Does the HDS identify the vehicle? YES -Replace the TPMS control unit (see «TPMS CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(ref-424917-S34324735942011100100000) ). NO - With navigation: Go to step 51. Without navigation: Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-424872-S33907592622011100100000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-424896-S22626174422011100100000) ), then recheck.
