The transaxle shift control linkage consists of

  1. a steering column or floor-mounted transaxle range selector lever.
  2. a shift cable connecting the steering column to the transaxle range selector lever.
  3. an ignition/shifter interlock cable on floor-shift vehicles which connects the transaxle range selector lever to the steering column lock assembly.
  4. an ignition/shift interlock actuator that is integral to the ignition/shift interlock cable.

The ignition/shifter interlock cable

  1. locks the transaxle range selector lever in the PARK position when the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  2. requires the transaxle range selector lever to be in the PARK position to turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

Refer to SHIFT INTERLOCK for schematic and connector information.
