Installation

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

1. Remove the LH lower instrument panel trim.
2. Reach up from the left side of the column, then using a small screwdriver, pry the shift cable from the shift selector lever pivot ball.
3. Remove the shift cable from the retaining bracket by carefully lifting up on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift actuator cable fitting.
4. From the engine compartment, remove the cruise control actuator. For additional information, refer to «SPEED CONTROL»(ref-233745) .
5. Pry the cable grommet from the dash panel.
6. Remove the nut holding the shift cable to the manual control lever.
7. Lifting up on the locking tab while pulling up on the shift cable, remove the shift cable from the transmission shift cable bracket. Discard the locking clip.
8. Pull the shift cable through the dash panel opening.

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order, using a new locking clip. Adjust the shift cable. For additional information, refer to «SELECTOR LEVER CABLE ADJUSTMENT - COLUMN SHIFT»(ref-233741-S40710799632006052600000) .

1. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-233744) .
2. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever. Remove the selector lever cable from the transaxle range selector lever. Depress the tab on the selector lever cable and remove the cable from the selector lever housing.
3. Remove the rear air distribution duct, if necessary.
4. Disengage the rubber grommet from the bulk head. Working from the passenger compartment, pull the insulation back to access the rubber grommet.
5. Remove the selector lever cable from the manual lever.
6. Depressing the tabs, remove the selector lever cable from the transmission shift cable bracket.
7. Feed the selector lever cable inside the vehicle and remove.

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order. Place the selector lever in OVERDRIVE, then attach the selector lever cable to the selector lever. Move the manual lever to OVERDRIVE, then install the selector lever cable onto the manual lever.

1. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to «INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE»(ref-233744) .
2. Remove the ignition/shifter interlock cable from the floor shift. Disconnect the cable from the bracket. Disconnect the cable from the shift cam.
3. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the selector lever. Remove the selector lever cable from the transaxle range selector lever. Depress the tab on the selector lever cable and remove the cable from the selector lever housing.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector.
5. Remove the bolts and nuts.
6. Remove the selector lever.

1. Follow the removal procedure in reverse order.

Removal

1. Remove the key release lever (3F527).
2. Remove the ignition switch lock cylinder (11582). For additional information, refer to «STEERING COLUMN»(ref-233713) .
3. Remove the screws and the lower instrument panel covering.
4. Remove the upper and the lower steering column shrouds (3530).
5. Remove the steering column opening weather seal (3513), the transaxle range selector lever pin and the transaxle range selector lever.
6. Remove the transaxle range selector lever clip.

1. Install the transaxle range selector lever clip.
2. Position the steering column opening weather seal on the transaxle range selector lever.
3. Install the selector lever.
4. Install the selector lever pin. Tap the selector lever pin until the head seats against the transmission column shift selector tube (7212) and the Tinnerman nut is visible on the bottom of the tube.
5. Install the steering column opening weather seal.
6. Install the upper and the lower steering column shrouds.
7. Install the lower instrument panel cover and the screws.
8. Install the ignition switch lock cylinder.
9. Install the key release lever.

1. Remove the console bezel. Carefully pry the bezel from the rear and lift.
2. Remove the shift knob. For additional information, refer to «TRANSMISSION SELECTOR LEVER KNOB»(ref-233741-S17767467472006052600000) .
3. Remove the retaining clips, then, pinching the retaining fingers, lift upward on the selector lever bezel slightly.
4. Disconnect the selector lever bezel light bulbs and sockets.
5. Remove the selector lever bezel.

1. Slide the plastic sleeve down.
2. Remove the screws.
3. Depress the button and remove the selector lever knob.
