REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-and-lifting) article.
2. Remove the 2 front bumper cover scrivets.
3. Remove the 2 front bumper cover bolts. To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
4. Remove the 6 front bumper cover wheel house screws. To install, tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
5. Remove the 4 bolts positioned under the front section of the bumper cover.
6. Disconnect the fog lamps electrical connector.
7. If equipped, disconnect the front side marker lamp electrical connector.
8. Remove the front bumper cover.
9. Inspect the bumper cover mounting reinforcements for damage. If necessary, install new bumper cover mounting reinforcements.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Remove the 2 front bumper cover scrivets.
3. Remove the 2 front bumper cover bolts.
4. Remove the forward wheel lip molding attachments from the LH and RH wheel lip moldings.
5. Remove 4 bolts positioned under the front section of the bumper cover.
6. Disconnect the fog lamps electrical connector.
7. Release the LH and RH wheel lip molding tabs and remove the front bumper cover.
8. Inspect the bumper cover mounting reinforcements for damage. If necessary, install new bumper cover mounting reinforcements.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

All vehicles

1. Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to «Bumper Cover - Front, Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system) or «Bumper Cover - Front, Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system) .
2. Remove the ambient air temperature sensor from the front bumper, if equipped.
3. Remove the rivets and position the block heater electrical adapter aside, if equipped.
4. If equipped, drill out the 2 tack welds on each side of the front bumper.
5. Remove the front bumper bolts. To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
6. Remove the front bumper.
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to «JACKING AND LIFTING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/hoistjack/#jacking-and-lifting) article.
2. Remove the rear lamps. For additional information, refer to «EXTERIOR LIGHTING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-lights/#exterior-lighting-system) article.
3. Remove the 8 rear bumper cover screws (4 each side) and 2 scrivets (1 each side) in the wheel well.
4. From inside the luggage compartment, remove the luggage compartment trim panel.
5. Remove the 2 plastic rivets (1 each side) from the upper rear bumper cover.
6. Remove the 6 rear bumper cover nuts. To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
7. If equipped, disconnect the rear parking aid electrical connector.
8. Disconnect the license plate lamp electrical connector, if equipped.
9. Remove the rear bumper cover.
10. Inspect the bumper cover mounting reinforcements for damage. If necessary, install new bumper cover mounting reinforcements before installation.
11. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Remove the rear lamps. For additional information, refer to «EXTERIOR LIGHTING»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-lights/#exterior-lighting-system) article.
3. If equipped, disconnect the rear parking aid electrical connector.
4. Remove the 5 rear bumper cover scrivets from liftgate opening.
5. Remove the 2 rear bumper cover pin-type retainers from the bottom of the beam.
6. Remove the 2 bolts (1 each side) from the wheel lip molding on the underside of the vehicle.
7. Remove the rear bumper cover.
8. Inspect the bumper cover mounting reinforcements for damage. If necessary, install new bumper cover mounting reinforcements.
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

1. Remove the rear bumper cover. For additional information, refer to «Bumper Cover - Rear, Taurus, Sable»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system) or «Bumper Cover - Rear, Taurus X»(/ford/taurus-x/i-2007-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumper-system) .
2. Remove the 4 rear bumper nuts. To install, tighten the rear bumper nuts to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft). To install, tighten the rear bumper double-ended studs to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
3. Remove the rear bumper.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Inspect the rear bumper double-ended studs for damage. If necessary, install new rear bumper double-ended studs. Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
