TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

The 3.0L engine has

  1. a V-block with six cylinders and splayed crankpins.
  2. a distributorless ignition system.
  3. a multiport, sequential fuel injection (SFI) system.
  4. overhead valves.
  5. hydraulic valve tappets for automatic lash adjustment.
  6. connecting rod parting faces that are unique with an interference fit.

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to «BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES»(ref-204997) .
  2. Disconnect the breather tube, loosen the clamp and position the air outlet tube aside.
  3. Remove the bolt and the snow shield.
  4. Disconnect the accelerator cable, speed control cable and the return spring.
  5. Disconnect the accelerator cable and speed control cable from the accelerator bracket.
  6. Disconnect the Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
  7. Disconnect the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
  8. Disconnect the two vacuum hoses.
  9. Remove the nut and position the oil level indicator aside.
  10. Remove the nut and the upper intake manifold support brace.
  11. Loosen the bolt and position the 42-pin wiring harness out of the way.
  12. Remove the 42-pin connector from the bracket and position out of the way.
  13. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
  14. Remove the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve from the valve cover.
  15. Remove the bolts and the upper intake manifold.
  16. Clean the gasket sealing surfaces.
  17. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
