Automatic Transmission Servicing: Maintenance Ford Focus I

CHECKING FLUID LEVELS

CAUTIONTransmission fluid level should be checked when fluid is cold to ensure fluid level is above ADD mark or lowest dimple on dipstick. Once fluid is above ADD mark, follow normal checking procedure.

Note. "F" series may be equipped with parking brake assembly mounted on rear of transmission. Parking brake assembly contains a separate reservoir, and fluid level must be checked separately from transmission. See PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY ("F" SERIES SUPER DUTY) .

DRAINING & REFILLING

WARNINGOn vehicles with electronic air suspension, power to air suspension system must be turned off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing. On Econoline and Pickup, air suspension switch is located behind right kick panel area. On all other models, air suspension switch is located in left side of trunk. Failure to do so can result in inflation or deflation of air springs, which may cause vehicle to shift during servicing.
