Overview

Note. Do not permanently remove or render inoperative any part of the vehicle emission control system including related hardware. Failure to comply may violate applicable state and federal laws.

The PCV system uses intake manifold vacuum to ventilate blow-by vapors and evaporated oil from the crankcase and returns them to the intake manifold for combustion. The PCV valve varies the amount of blow-by vapors and evaporated oil returned to the intake manifold.

GENERAL EQUIPMENT

  1. For PCM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), REFER to: Electronic Engine Controls ( «ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/removal-installation/#electronic-engine-controls-20l-duratec-he) ). MIL Code List. For driveability symptoms without Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) .

Removal

WARNINGBefore beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in SERVICE INFORMATION General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions ( «HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/oem-general-information/#service-information-introduction-except-electric) ). Refer to: «Engine Emission Control - Component Location»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/removal-installation/#engine-emission-control-20l-duratec-he) ).
  2. Refer to: Intake Manifold ( «INTAKE MANIFOLD»(/ford/focus-st/iii-2012-2015/remont/mechanical/#engine-20l-duratec-he) ).
  3. Release the bypass hose from the retainer clip and position aside.
  4. Remove the 8 bolts and crankcase vent oil separator.
  5. Remove and discard the gasket.

Installation

  1. Using a new gasket, install the crankcase vent oil separator and 8 bolts. Torque : 10 Nm
  2. Attach the bypass hose to the retainer clip.
