  1. CHECK THE HVAC MODULE FOR DTCs Ignition ON. Using a scan tool, perform a HVAC module self-test. Are any DTCs present? Yes: For DTC B10AF:12, GO to 2 . For DTC B10AF:13, GO to 4 . For DTC B10B9:14, GO to 8 . No: GO to 7 .
  2. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY FUNCTIONALITY Install a known good blower motor relay. Does the blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new blower motor relay. No: GO to 3 .
  3. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor Relay. Disconnect: HVAC module C228A. Ignition ON. Measure: BJB Ground Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CH123 (VT/GN) - Ground Is any voltage present? Yes: REPAIR the circuit. No: GO to 17 .
  4. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY FUNCTIONALITY Install a known good blower motor relay. Does the blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new blower motor relay. No: GO to 5 .
  5. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY COIL SUPPLY VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor Relay. Ignition ON. Measure: BJB Ground Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 CBB89 (VT/GY) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 6 . No: VERIFY BJB fuse 89 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to «OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION»(ref-485835) and «OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-514995) .
  6. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A. Measure: BJB HVAC Module Blower Motor Relay Socket C228A Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CH123 (VT/GN) 11 CH123 (VT/GN) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 17 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  7. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION USING ACTIVE COMMANDS Using a scan tool, view HVAC Module PIDs . Select PANEL mode on the HVAC controls. Select the lowest blower motor setting. Monitor blower motor speed while using the scan tool to operate the active command PID BLOWRSPD, increasing and decreasing the percentage value. Does the blower motor speed change between low and high when the active command is changed? Yes : INSTALL a new FCIM. REFER to «FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE (FCIM)»(ref-538889-S40961126222013033000000) - (Premium), REFER to «FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE (FCIM)»(ref-538890-S40042572692013033000000) - (Premium Plus), or REFER to «FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE (FCIM)»(ref-538891-S32340284562013033000000) - (Sony® Sound). No: GO to 8 .
  8. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY FUNCTIONALITY Install a known good blower motor relay. Does the blower motor function correctly? Yes: INSTALL a new blower motor relay. No: GO to 9 .
  9. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE AT THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY SWITCH CONTACT Disconnect: Blower Motor Relay Measure: BJB Ground Blower Motor Relay Socket Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 SBB18 (YE/RD) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: GO to 10 . No: VERIFY BJB fuse 18 (40A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to «OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION»(ref-485835) and «OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS»(ref-514995) .
  10. CHECK VOLTAGE TO THE BLOWER MOTOR WITH THE BLOWER MOTOR RELAY BYPASSED Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor. Connect a fused jumper: BJB BJB Blower Motor Relay Socket Blower Motor Relay Socket Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 SBB18 (YE/RD) 5 CH402 (YE/GN) Ignition ON. Measure: Blower Motor Ground C2004 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CH402 (YE/GN) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: DISCONNECT the fused jumper wire and CONNECT the blower motor relay. GO to 11 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  11. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL POWER CIRCUIT FOR VOLTAGE Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor Speed Control. Ignition ON. Measure: Blower Motor Speed Control Ground C271 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 CH402 (YE/GN) - Ground Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? Yes: CONNECT the blower motor speed control. GO to 12 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  12. CHECK FOR BLOWER MOTOR FUNCTIONALITY WITH A TEST LIGHT IN PLACE OF THE BLOWER MOTOR NOTE: This step uses a test light to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only the test light recommended in the Special Tools table at the beginning of this section or equivalent. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Flex Probe Kit for the test light probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test light probe directly on any connector. Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor. Connect: Blower Motor Blower Motor C2004 C2004 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CH402 (YE/GN) 2 VH301 (YE/BU) Ignition ON. Select panel mode with the blower motor on high. Does the test lamp illuminate? Yes: INSTALL a new blower motor. REFER to «Blower Motor»(ref-517581-S15823376372012121200000) . No: GO to 13 .
  13. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. Disconnect: Blower Motor Speed Control. Measure: Blower Motor Blower Motor Speed Control C2004 C271 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH301 (YE/BU) 2 VH301 (YE/BU) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 14 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  14. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Blower Motor Speed Control Ground C271 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 GD215 (BK/GY) - Ground Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: GO to 15 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  15. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL COMMAND CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A. Measure: HVAC Module Ground C228A Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 VH101 (WH/VT) - Ground Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? Yes: GO to 16 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  16. CHECK THE BLOWER MOTOR SPEED CONTROL COMMAND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Measure: Blower Motor Speed Control HVAC Module C271 C228A Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 VH101 (WH/VT) 1 VH101 (WH/VT) Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? Yes: INSTALL a new blower motor speed control. REFER to «Blower Motor Speed Control»(ref-517581-S21945767782012121200000) . If the concern is still present, GO to 17 . No: REPAIR the circuit.
  17. CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION Ignition OFF. Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors. Repair: corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins) damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present. Is the concern still present? Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to «Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module»(ref-517581-S13895863382012121200000) . No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
