Note. DTC P1296: NO 5 VOLTS TO MAP SENSOR is monitored with ignition off and battery voltage more than 10.4 volts. DTC may be stored in Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when PCM senses MAP sensor voltage drop to less than 2.35 volts with key off for 5 seconds. Possible causes are: defective MAP sensor, defective PCM, defective connectors or defective wiring.
- Start engine and allow to idle. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than.2 volt, go to next step. If voltage is.2 volt or more, go to step 5).
- Turn engine off. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 2.35 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.35 volts or more, go to step 7).
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect MAP sensor connector. (Схема №19) Clean and/or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using a voltmeter, check voltage on MAP sensor connector, 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire). If voltage is more than 4.5 volts, replace MAP sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage is 4.5 volts or less, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Ensure MAP sensor connector is still disconnected. Disconnect PCM connectors. PCM is located in engine compartment. See PCM LOCATION table under SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS. Clean and/or repair connectors as necessary. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance of MAP sensor 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire) between MAP sensor and PCM. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 6). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open 5-volt supply circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 2.35 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 2.35 volts or more, go to step 7).
- At this time, PCM is assumed to be defective. Replace PCM. Perform TEST VER-5A.
- Turn ignition off. Inspect related connectors and wiring harness for damage. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A. If connectors and wiring harness are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Wiggle MAP sensor connector and wiring harness while using scan tool to monitor MAP sensor voltage. If MAP sensor voltage changes while wiggling connector and wiring harness, repair connector and wiring harness where wiggling caused voltage to change. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage does not change, go to next step.
- Conditions required to set DTC are not present at this time. Visually inspect related connectors and wiring harness for damage. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A. If connectors and wiring harness are okay, test is complete.
