Note. DTC P0121: TPS VOLTAGE DOES NOT AGREE WITH MAP is monitored with engine running and no Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) or Throttle Position (TP) sensor DTCs present. Engine speed must be more than 1600 RPM for all TP sensor testing. Possible causes are: MAP sensor DTC present, defective connectors, defective wiring, erratic TP sensor voltage change, TP sensor voltage more than one volt or more than 3.5 volts.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If any MAP sensor DTCs are present, perform appropriate test for specified DTC(s). See DTC P0107: MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO LOW or DTC P0108: MAP SENSOR VOLTAGE TOO HIGH. If no MAP sensor DTCs are present, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage is less than 3.5 volts, perform NTC-8A: CHECKING MAP SENSOR CALIBRATION TEST. If voltage is 3.5 volts or more, go to next step.
- Start engine and allow it to idle. Using scan tool, read MAP sensor voltage. If voltage decreases from more than 3.5 volts to less than 2 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not decrease from more than 3.5 volts to less than 2 volts, perform NTC-8A: CHECKING MAP SENSOR CALIBRATION TEST.
- Turn engine off. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Wiggle TP sensor connector and wiring harness while monitoring TP sensor voltage. (Схема №19) If voltage changes while wiggling connector and wiring harness, repair connector or wiring harness that caused voltage to change. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage does not change, go to next step.
- Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Open throttle plate to wide-open throttle while monitoring TP sensor voltage. If voltage is more than 3.5 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 3.5 volts or less, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Clean and/or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using a voltmeter, check voltage on TP sensor connector, 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire). If voltage is less than 5 volts, repair open 5-volt supply circuit. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage is 5 volts or more, go to next step.
- Turn ignition on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read TP sensor voltage. If voltage is more than one volt, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step. NOTE: If TP sensor connector, 5-volt supply circuit (Orange wire) and sensor ground circuit (Black/Light Blue wire) are switched at TP sensor connector, DTC P0121: TPS VOLTAGE DOES NOT AGREE WITH MAP DTC will set.
- Turn ignition off. Check throttle plate and linkage for binding. Repair throttle plate and linkage as necessary. Disconnect TP sensor connector. Clean and/or repair connector as necessary. Inspect connector for proper wire installation in appropriate connector terminal. See «CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION»(ref-139160-S09977502222002042600000). Correct wire installation as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A. If wires are properly installed, go to next step. NOTE: Throttle linkage must be moved very slowly while looking for a smooth change in voltage in this step.
- Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Slowly open and close throttle plate while monitoring TP sensor voltage. If voltage change is smooth, go to next step. If voltage change is erratic, replace TP sensor. Perform TEST VER-5A.
- Ensure ignition is on, with engine off. Using scan tool, read and record FREEZE FRAME data. Ensure CAUSED BY DTC matches DTC on DTC screen. If DTC matches, road test vehicle under conditions in FREEZE FRAME data. Using scan tool, read DTCs. If DTC P0121: TPS VOLTAGE DOES NOT AGREE WITH MAP returns, visually inspect related connectors and wiring harness for damage. Repair connectors and wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-5A. If DTC P0121: TPS VOLTAGE DOES NOT AGREE WITH MAP does not return, see «INACTIVE DTC CONDITION»(ref-139160-S32382818132002042600000). Test is complete.
