STANDARD PROCEDURE - FLUID DRAIN AND REFILL
The fill and drain plugs are both in the rear case (Scheme 278)

- Raise vehicle.
- Position drain pan under transfer case.
- Remove drain and fill plugs and drain lubricant completely.
- Install drain plug. Tighten plug to 41-54 N.m (30-40 ft. lbs.).
- Remove drain pan.
- Fill transfer case to bottom edge of fill plug opening with Mopar(R) ATF +4, Automatic Transmission fluid.
- Install and tighten fill plug to 41-54 N.m (30-40 ft. lbs.).
- Lower vehicle.

- Remove the front propeller shaft (Refer to «PROPELLER SHAFT»(ref-189646) ).
- Remove the front propeller shaft seal boot retaining clamp (Scheme 279)
- Remove the front propeller shaft seal boot (Scheme 280)
- Remove the front output shaft seal slinger by bending (Scheme 281) the slinger ears away from the transfer case.
- Using a suitable pry tool (Scheme 282), remove the slinger from the output shaft using care not to damage the shaft.
- Using a screw and a slide hammer, remove the front output shaft seal.
