ASSEMBLY
- Install oil pump rotors. see scheme 159
- Install oil pump cover and screws. see scheme 159 Tighten screws to 12 N.m (105 in. lbs.). CAUTION: Oil pump pressure relief valve must be installed as shown in or serious damage may occur. see scheme 158
- Install spring and relief valve. see scheme 158
- Install threaded plug and gasket to the oil pump. see scheme 158 Tighten plug to 41 N.m (30 ft. lbs.).

- Make sure all surfaces are clean and free of oil and dirt.
- Apply Mopar® Gasket Maker to oil pump as shown in. (Scheme 166) Install o-ring into oil pump body discharge passage.
- Prime oil pump before installation.
- Align oil pump rotor flats with flats on crankshaft as you install the oil pump to the block. NOTE: Front crankshaft seal MUST be out of pump to align, or damage may result.
- Torque all oil pump attaching bolts to 28 N.m (250 in. lbs.).
- Install NEW front crankshaft seal using Special Tool 6780. (Scheme 167) NOTE: Make sure the word "front" on the crankshaft sprocket is facing outward. CAUTION: Use of Special Tool 6792 is required to install the crankshaft sprocket to the proper depth. Failure to use this tool will cause improper timing belt tracking.
- Install crankshaft sprocket, using Special Tool 6792. (Scheme 168)
- Install oil pick-up tube and oil pan. (Refer to «OIL PAN»(ref-177391-S36411593832005052700000) ).
- Install timing belt rear cover and camshaft sprocket. (Refer to «TIMING BELT COVER(S)»(ref-177391-S15538948382005052700000) ).
- Install timing belt tensioner assembly. (Refer to «TIMING BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY»(ref-177391-S00137886752005052700000) ).
- Install timing belt. (Refer to «TIMING BELT AND SPROCKETS»(ref-177391-S13434889052005052700000) ).
- Install front timing belt cover. (Refer to «TIMING BELT COVER(S)»(ref-177391-S15538948382005052700000) ).
- Fill engine crankcase with proper oil to correct level.
- Connect negative cable to battery.
- Perform camshaft and crankshaft timing relearn procedure as follows: Connect the DRB III® scan tool to the data link (diagnostic) connector. This connector is located in the passenger compartment; at the lower edge of instrument panel near the steering column. Turn the ignition switch on. Access "Engine" diagnostics. Select "Miscellaneous" option. Select "Re-Learn Cam Crank" option and follow directions on DRBIII® screen.

- Remove assembly by unscrewing adaptor fitting. (Scheme 169)
- Remove O-ring seal.
